Hi there, we flew internally with Vietnam Airlines at the end of 2007. We flew HCMC to Danang and then Hue to Hanoi. Excellent planes, good condition, food box provided and very friendly service.

Little quirky in some areas but overall excellent.

A bit like the first two posts, I cant comment on how bad a particular Chinese carrier is....but I can say how good. I did 2, 2hr+ flights with China Eastern and I found them as good as any European carrier I had flown. Aircraft were great, flights on time, good food, good service and excellent staf...

I did the exact same flights last year with China Eastern and they were great. We paid £110 extra and flew first class. For this we got use of the excellent lounges, priority check in, priority boarding, luggage off first, excellent food and service on the flight and an overall excellent experience....

I have flown in China a few times and China Eastern have always been fantastic. I have flown various routes out of Shanghai (to Beijing, Xian etc) and I have always had a great experience.

Better than flying some budget airlines!
