You're not wrong. With Covid, a lot of airlines did not prioritize airplane washes/external cleaning. The operator I work for will resume airplane washes later this year now that things are stabilizing. It just wasn't a priority for the last 2 years.

No problem! I think the most active one of those groups is still the FATPN (Pacific Northwest). You'd probably have some interest from people up here to come down to you in SAN. Good luck with the rebuild! It's sad to see so much tribal knowledge going out the door, or as you say, dying off.

I would think the EASA rules are similar to FAA in regards to emergencies - pretty much in an emergency you can do whatever you need to do to get down. I don't think it a pilot would consider "hey, they have a curfew, can't land there" if there's a runway ahead that's long enough for the a...

The entire aft tailcone was redesigned. The -NG uses an eductor to let ambient air into the APU compartment. That air is then pulled through the oil cooler from suction of the exhaust. The MAX eliminated the eductor design, so a new inlet had to be created that diverts air for the actual APU inlet a...

Commonality between fleet types is a big factor. Consider A320 family operators that have the CFM56-5B engines, and started to operate NEO A320 fam aircraft. The LEAP-1A would be a clear choice over the P&W GTF, as that customer already has experience and service history with Safran/GE. It certa...

The pilots did a good job keeping it on center line. It's also interesting to see that the wheel isn't completely destroyed, only the tire. Probably had a much lower landing weight than the JetBlue incident. That's not to say that the wheel doesn't need to be replaced, though.

I'm curious what it is, too. Perhaps it's the gearbox?
