Airlines often have contracts with logistics companies that figure out the ground handling portion. I know of a large operator that uses Spire for diversions. https://www.spireflight.com/en. They handle logistics of hard stands, fueling, towing, etc for airports that aren't served by that operator.Jump to post
How much weight does this survey have? It's really about advertising power - I nor others that I know (friends or family) have ever purchased products/services because of JD Power Award influence. As an AS employee, congrats to DL! They have made it their priority to win it from AS for years now. I...Jump to post

The memes coming from this are fantastic. The excavator and Austin Powers meme is the best.

I don't think anyone will paint an actual aircraft with a test livery. There have been plenty. Fair play. Any examples? AS had 2 or 3 aircraft with a modified livery, mainly on the winglets before the current livery refresh. https://www.airliners.net/photo/Alaska-Airlines/Boeing-737-990-ER/2835088/...Jump to post
I wonder if this surgery was unscheduled? Like something that needed to be done right now and he was the one on call to perform it? Then he should have worked something out with the hospital to have another doctor be on call, or with the court to move the hearing to a day he was free from work resp...Jump to post

He was a class act. One of my favorite films of his is Dragnet. Such a silly movie with a heavyweight actor. Also, this interview is fantastic.
The pilots did a good job keeping it on center line. It's also interesting to see that the wheel isn't completely destroyed, only the tire. Probably had a much lower landing weight than the JetBlue incident. That's not to say that the wheel doesn't need to be replaced, though.Jump to post
Hey All, Mods, please move this to another forum if this is not the right spot. I did not see related topics, nor could I find any rules that prohibit this post. I have questions! I apologise if the linked news story answers my questions, the link does not work in the EU. 1) How did he get onto the wing? 2) What was he trying to achieve? He breached a perimeter fence and he got on the wing by climbing up the motor. (The pilots had shut it down when they saw...Jump to post
I'm going to venture you're talking about the GTF. You can hear the grinding/growling noise at lower power settings. In Seattle, I can hear it and know instantly it's a DL A220 joining the LOC with the engines spooling from idle.
I'm curious what it is, too. Perhaps it's the gearbox?

Same thing as Jetblueguy22. My CFI had me put my head down under the hood and maneuvered the plane around. After a while he asked "what's our attitude?" I replied "steep turn". We were straight and level. WOW. Mind blown at that point, and from then on I've never questioned how s...Jump to post
It's obviously not a good time in aviation right now, but when things pick up again don't rule out working for an airline. Here's a quick reference. It doesn't always hold true, but in most cases is accurate. Looking into the fan, you can tell if GE, Pratt, or RR. Alaska uses RNAV all the time. Woodreau is right, Alaska has many proprietary RNP approach and departure procedures.
