In the end it will probably wind up being the safest aircraft in the sky. Statistically, I don't believe it's possible for the MAX to be the safest plane in the sky at this point. At least not for many, many, many, many, years and many many more sales. In fact, it'll be a while before it can be con...Jump to post
I don't understand why people think Iceland is SOOOO expensive. I've been there. Stayed at two 3/4 star hotels and paid under $189/night. Rented a mid-sized car for a week (including extra insurance) and paid less than $300. Found plenty of low cost good food choices (especially the famous Bill Clin...Jump to post
In the end it will probably wind up being the safest aircraft in the sky. Some people will remain afraid. Kind of like flying on 9/11 here in the States...flight loads have remained low, even though there is likely stepped up security making it safer to fly.Jump to post
I visit LAL every year for Sun N Fun. This area is growing big time. NOAA moved its hurricane hunter flight ops there. Amazon is moving its flight ops there. Amazon already has a major distribution center there and continues to grow. Publix HQ is next door to the airport, and it continues to grow. I...Jump to post
If you haven't been there, Lakeland is already home to a huge distribution center for Amazon. The building is right down the block from LAL. Having visited Sun N Fun numerous times, I've driven past it. The airport has plenty of additional space to grow - and it's location between Tampa and Orlando ...Jump to post
I noticed two Southwest 737s on the north ramp at MIA yesterday and was wondering if anyone knew why they were there? One was in the old livery and one was in the current paint scheme. I’m pretty sure the Max’s are parked in the desert. Have these two been sold and are being prepped or parted? Could...Jump to post
That's my prediction. We will see how things turn out. As for demand, that's why I said on routes that are dominated US point of sale like CUN/PUJ/MBJ. WN is getting 35% LF on some month on FLL-CUN this past year. And it's cutting North East to FLL routes left and right. This kind of service that a...Jump to post

Please delete if duplicate, but didn't find anything. A twin-engine Piper airplane that took off from Tampa, Florida crashed into Lake Okeechobee near Pahokee Airport, killing all five people aboard on Friday. Four of the five dead were reportedly lawyers from the same firm.Jump to post
Sitting here at PBI watching JetBlue remote 6 extra aircraft already, made me wonder where all the planes are being parked to avoid the rain/ice/snowstorm hitting the Midwest/Northeast US tonight and tomorrow? I’m sure we are talking about hundreds of aircraft. So give us a report of who is spending...Jump to post
I always try to be cognizant of not standing too near/straddling the gap. Obviously you have to cross it but I prefer not to be too vulnerable for too long in case the thing moves/drops. Paranoid much? It's not like this is a daily occurrence... Paranoid is another word for safe. It only takes once...Jump to post
It was down for a few days. But I agree it appears to be up and working again. Maybe the timing was coincidental.Jump to post
Noticed the FAA N-Number Registry has not been accessible for the past few days. I was wondering if it is not available because of the government shutdown? If so, any other viable options for Registration searches?Jump to post
Isn't a big part of this that Spirit will not even check in a passenger less than 45 minutes before departure. If so it will help the airline look good, but if you've stood in line for a half-hour and you get to the counter at 44 minutes before your flight - that might really stink for passengers.Jump to post
No I don't mind you posting them at all. Maybe I can get more advice from those that see them. The thing that is the most frustrating is how I will get a bunch approved and then a bunch rejected from the same shoot, under the same conditions, that I edit almost exactly the same way. And I clearly am...Jump to post
Ok - I have more than 1,000 photos published here - yet I still get a ton of Compression rejections. I’ve posted this problem before - and followed the advice - including reducing the original photo in steps rather than all at once. Meanwhile I shrink every photo exactly the same way and I will get ...Jump to post
Have to agree with MAH on this one. I've been to that area many times. The more affluent communities are what I named before: Boca, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, Parkland, etc. While Palm Beach in and of itself is very affluent, the majority of the money is sandwiched in between PBI and ...Jump to post
By far the most money is on Palm Beach Island which is almost 50 miles north of Fort Lauderdale but only three miles from PBI. And anyone who has lived in South Florida for more than a few years knows - much of the growth (and wealth) here continues to move north up the coast. BA - first goes to MI...Jump to post
WHOA! Sounds like they tried Frontier's dartboard approach with this one. Never in a million years would have guessed CHS would see this. Great city, but didn't really think it would be attractive to Europeans. Dumbfounded. Eh it's too close to MIA which is still drive able from PBI. Especially sin...Jump to post
Still a few days out, but they are talking about Florence making landfall in the North/South Carolina area as a category 4 with winds in the 140 mph range. Which airline/airports are likely to take the biggest hit? Are any airlines prepping for this storm yet? Have any airlines started allowing pass...Jump to post
A Cessna 340 departed Key West this morning (9/9) and crashed less than a mile from Lantana Airport, just south of West Palm Beach, FL. Two people on board were killed, when the aircraft crashed into a bunch of trees at John Prince Park, which sits adjacent to Lantana Airport, approximately 9 miles ...Jump to post
"Sun Country to fly tourists"
If you are not a tourist can you still fly on them?
Sat right behind the wings on an Air Tahiti Nui A340-300 while crossing the intertropical convergence zone at night. You want to talk about crazy sounding engines. Revving up and down constantly for a good 15-20 minutes. Weather got really rough. Flight attendants required us to close all our window...Jump to post
I would be curious as to what JetBlue's stats are in this category. Many frequently complain to me about how they tend to "pre-cancel" before bad weather hits. And I know every airline does that to some extent. With most of JetBlue's ducks in one basket (JFK) - or at least one geographical...Jump to post
If or how are cancellations included in an airline's On Time Percentage? If they are not included, why isn't a separate Cancellation category added to the "Big Three" categories by which most airlines are judged: 1) Customer Complaints 2) Lost/Delayed Baggage 3) On Time Percentage.Jump to post
Another Rouge heavy on short final to Florida - this time it's Orlando International.
A recent photo I took on this route arriving at FLL.

How about LAS-Tonopah. I'd say that route serves a specific industry.Jump to post
HPN - White Plains, New York - pretty much qualifies. Check-in, baggage claim and car rentals are all in the same single room. It certainly has jet service. If you want to get technical it has a second room through security for waiting - but really it's all one big room.Jump to post
But this incident was aviation related - and this is an aviation forum. If you have no interest in commenting on the incident - simply move on. But no one made you judge and jury in deciding whether others might be interested in commenting on what was posted. I ask for responses from those who are i...Jump to post
