Yes, load factors to a number of places were quite nice, but remember, fares to a number of places were absolutely dirt cheap.

Not sure that's too much of the issue as I lived in New York and was the New York-based traveler and booked and flew them plenty of times. Southwest's biggest problem with New York City was avoiding New York City for say....30 years.

City limits doesn't matter. For a catchment area, you pretty much can draw a line around any feasible airport at a 2 to a 2.5 hour driving radius.

Allegiant really is able to get some incredible performance out of their markets. Looking at places such as Minot with 40-something thousand people in the area and they're filling planes a few times a week to Las Vegas and Phoenix and turning an airport, such as Asheville, into a boom town for them....

If one really wants to get out of Penn Station, trek through midtown with luggage clear over and up to Grand Central ... then this is the hell for you. I know he said he wanted to grab dinner in Manhattan - but zoiks!

A much easier connection to the local New Haven Line could be made at New Rochelle.

For STL. June will have 78% of the seats it did in 2019. With as full as planes have been I wouldn’t be surprised to see it over 80% based on passengers. BLV will be over 2019, by quite a bit. 2019- 32 flights a week 2021 - 46 flights a week. Potential to be best month ever. BLV is going to be busy...

The direct Amtrak connection from EWR to Stamford is going to be a bit tricky as GalaxyFlyer said but if you're considering stopping in Manhattan to get dinner anyway EWR isn't all that bad, you could just fly there directly, then take NJ Transit into Penn Station (they have 3-4 hourly trains going...

Given all the activity at Charlotte these days, I'm surprised AA isn't 10x daily or whatever on this route. I've flown through there three times this spring - AA is clearly going *ALL* in on Charlotte. It's a madhouse.

The great deal with community is being the closest airport to some of the welathiest zip codes around the country. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. And skipping the drive down to LaGuardia and up to Boston! It'll be interesting to see what happens up the road in Providence as a result of this.....

As I best remember-

Southwest typically focuses on national wires, publications, services and ownership groups and everyone works out of Dallas.

American, United, and Delta all have comms staffers in regions who probably have generated a lot more local contacts, etc. etc.

I’d suspect B6 wants to see how NK does in STL. I think there’s other reasons behind the scenes as well, but can’t say what those are. B6 to JFK would be a good add and provide a nice connection to their new London flights. Their new international Mint product is going to be nice and less expensive...
