Thank you for the comments! Thanks for sharing. Never knew that Qatar flew to Chiang Mai. Due to the Gulf blockade I haven't been following them as much as I used to. To be on the safe side, you could have requested wheelchair assistance. It is not obligatory to use it even if you book it but are fe...Jump to post
This journey is the continuation of our day's travel that began in Doha, where we flew Qatar Airways QSuites to Chicago, connecting on to this American Airlines flight. The full journey had begun the previous day with Qatar Airways in Chiang Mai, flying Business Class on the 787-8 to Doha. Both oth...Jump to post
As noted in my previous report we had flown in from Chiang Mai the day before, staying at the nearby Sharq Village & Spa. Upon checking-in at the hotel it was time to do the same for our onward flight the next day. Rather annoyingly we had been moved from my chosen 9J and 10K to 9E and 9F. Whils...Jump to post
I've lived as an adult in both the UK and the US so familiar with driving in both. The standard of driving in the UK is, IMO, much higher in that lane discipline is something that people observe and that driving is something people are very conscious about so you really won't see people texting/usin...Jump to post
My father-in-law worked for TWA and so the wife and I have booked the inlaws in for a one night stay in a runway view room at the end of the month as a surprise even though we live locally. We plan on exploring whilst dropping him off and I'll take some photos if nobody else has got there first. I b...Jump to post
This is really more an issue with the US tax structure (and likely global as well). You can dislike him (I sure do, he is a poor president) but for business and taxes, showing losses on paper in one way to adjust the tax burden. And anyone should want to pay as little in taxes as they can. Bloomber...Jump to post
Restoration Hardware has a series of aviation themed items.
I’ll be buying this desk when I move into my new house in a couple of months.

What something is worth is completely subjective.
Only you can decide if the benefits are worth $120 TO YOU.
Thank you for the kind comments!
I’m afraid I’m not a fan of melon, watermelon, cantaloupe etc. so this fruit plate was straight from the depths of hell! The worst since AS F in 2006, not that I keep a ranking At least there were some bits to pick on the FRA-SIN equivalent!
Thanks! The other report I posted was my first flight on the A380 too! I just had a combination of flying the wrong airlines/routes and bad timing. For almost a decade IAD-LHR was my most regular longhaul route but then at almost the exact same time that BA started flying the A380 to IAD I moved to ...Jump to post

Qantas Club is a paid membership, which I assume is tied to your QF FF account. However I don’t see why you can’t credit the flight to AS. Just show your QF Club card at the lounge desk with your boarding pass. When I had membership in multiple alliance FFPs I’d sometimes credit to one but use elite...Jump to post
This is all a bit silly! 12.30am and JFK should be pretty dead by now....

There are quite a few hotels close to the cruise terminal. Nothing very exciting, the Leonardo is about the only one I'd personally stay at but a £75/night budget is going to only get you an afternoon there! Does the hotel have to provide breakfast? For £75 you're looking at 3* joints, and probably ...Jump to post
Depends on the flight. I'll enjoy a drink or two onboard for sure. If it's longhaul, especially with free pouring FAs (you know, the type who make you feel bad when you turn down a refill) I'll just drink a glass of water for every glass of champagne/wine or measure of spirits. I will rarely feel an...Jump to post
Do not expect or ask for a nonstop LAX-LHR flight; however, AA and BA codeshare flights are numerous through all of AA hub cities. There will be a suitable connection to rebook you on. Why not? You can use the Al Mourjan lounge when flying QSuites. I'm flying QSuites on the 77W from DOH-ORD in a couple of weeks and was planning to write up a trip report. The wife and have opted for window seats rather than the "double bed" because it's a 14+hr dayflight. In the meantime there are...Jump to post
I asked the TSA staff if SSSS is common and they said its pretty rare and happens maybe once or twice a day at SFO I'm surprised it's that little. Definitely keep an eye out for schedule changes, you can then tidy this up quite a bit. The Carolinas Aviation Museum is a short distance from the airport, it's basically on the edge of the airport property. I haven't been but it has N106US (the "Sully" plane) there and I've heard it's goo...Jump to post
I flew UA's second oldest 777 in 2018. Older than most AA's MD-80s at 25 United's second 777 was delivered in June 1995, so you were a few years short of 25 if you flew it last year. Maybe I'm just odd but age of aircraft really doesn't bother me in the slightest. If the cabin is as rough as a badg...Jump to post
In my experience, the far and away most common reason folks don't get TSA Precheck is that they either forget to input or do not input correctly their Trusted Traveler number. Or that they’re flying a non-participating airline and assume they still get access. I’ve had Global Entry for almost 10yrs...Jump to post
As someone who almost exclusively flies F/J and does write a few trip reports I’d say it’s because simply there is more to write about in premium cabins. I was able to look up the seats on the flight from SAN to LHR on BA.com, using the booking reference number, and it looks like that plane will be a -300.\ Don't assume that will stick. Afraid I can’t help more with your enquiry but may I ask what you’re using the sears/cabin for? Film/TV production perhaps or just for fun? I’ve thought if I had a home capable of handling it a FC cabin of this ilk would be an amazing man cave of sorts to have, and the CX 747 would be the one I’d lo...Jump to post
Well, the JFK-MCO is a real personal loss for me. The wife and I have taken that afternoon/evening flight on a Friday every couple of months for the last few years. It was quite a while ago now, DEN-OAK on a UA 757. Was in the exit row by 2L and the guy next to me was 7ft tall. Everything about it was highly amusing. Macau is a good call and very easy to do. You don't clear any immigration until you hit Macau which makes things really easy....Jump to post
What kind of itinerary are you looking at? The more flights you take the more it'd sway me to going with an alliance partner, but if they're inconvenient airports/routings then the few additional miles you'll earn may not make up for the inconvenience. Nice report and photos! I found the Polaris seat to be rather claustrophobic when I tried it, not sure I'd want to spend double digit hours in the thing, even though it is obviously better than the cheap seats. As longhornmaniac says AA's 77W seat is far superior, IMO. AA get slammed a lot here but ...Jump to post
I'm yet to have read a true trip report for a TU-144 commercial flight, not a surprise since it flew only a few dozen times commercially. To answer your initial question, not exactly. is there a way to build an airside tunnel (maybe with moving walkways, like at United's facility at ORD) between T-7 and T-8? My view on this is fairly straightforward and unchanged since they announced the big JFK plan last year. Build out T8 to its original, planned size. (see below and you'll see that T8 is only half the size). Then move all the T7 tenants over to T8, knock down T7 and rebuild it with this plan. https:/...Jump to post
This is incorrect. You should be able to access the airside portion of any terminal with a same day boarding pass from that airport. I have done this at several airports over the last 10yrs for lounge access or similar. "Should be" and "will be" are two different things, especia...Jump to post
