Because AA needs a true first class on JFK to LAX and SFO, and among wide bodies, only the B77W has first class. The B762s that were replaced by these A321s had an international first class on them. The 762 F seats may have been an international FC seat at some point (I think they were on 763s in t...Jump to post
About 6 weeks ago I was on a flight and my seatmate looked vaguely familiar. For the first few hours of the flight, I was not really concerned as I was working on some work related things and then had dinner. It finally hit me who it was. The (he says sarcastically) charming and personable Sam Chui...Jump to post
I cancelled a trip to Athens and Crete about three weeks out because I split with my wife. Had got a pretty decent price on BA First/Club Europe tickets IAD-LHR-ATH and return which were non-refundable so those went unused. The kicker was I had booked the time off work so decided to fly "home&...Jump to post
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the long TATL flights. JFK- FRA close to 7 hrs in the air with gaining 6 more on the ground. Unless you can sleep that whole flight away in economy that's a tough one. I've done IAD-LHR and JFK-LHR more times than I care to count. I certainly prefer longer overnig...Jump to post

I'm not surprised that LH does so well at US airline hubs. There's no comparison in the onboard service and lounges. Hmmm. I'd say LH lounges outside of FRA and MUC are pretty woeful. At EWR I chose to sit in the gate area over their lounge! Whilst LH F is a pretty solid product I'd say their busin...Jump to post
I've had this happen a few times but the weirdest one was on a BA Club Europe JER-LGW flight a few years ago. For those who don't know this is operated by an A319 with convertible seating so whilst there are middle seats they are unoccupied in CE. As I reported at the time: I'm a little tardy in boa...Jump to post

I haven't seen it this bad in a very long time. I'm counting at least 30 diversions so far. At least a couple of times a summer you'll see this number of diversions. Lot with an A343? The only time JFK is a pain is when you are connecting and require a change of terminals. Otherwise the smaller terminals make walks shorter, ignoring some of the epic ones in T4 for regional flights. T8 opened earlier than some have noted. I first flew through there in mid 2006, connecting through ...Jump to post
Very cool! I did the JFK-FRA-SIN flight a couple of months ago and rather enjoyed it.
I didn't know about those single seats at the back of the aircraft but what a perk for what is essentially Y! Though the business class seats certainly look less spacious than those on the A380.
Wow haven't seen your SN in forever! How have you been? I used to love reading your BA TRs back in the day, I concur about the AA policy. Greetings! I haven't posted as much in recent years but do keep the occasional trip report flowing through. Have reported QR QSuites, SQ Business Class, CX First...Jump to post
AA no longer have a policy of saying the front bathrooms are for FC use only. If you've heard it on AA in recent times then it's a mistaken FA or someone who just believes that's in the best interest of serving the FC cabin. My personal opinion is that it is fine for those to use the front lav if th...Jump to post
OK, so this isn't a full blown write up since I haven't actually stayed there yet but as noted in a previous post because my father-in-law worked at TWA in the 1970s and 1990s we surprised him and my MIL with an early Father's Day present of a night here, Runway View Executive Room. So we tagged alo...Jump to post
Capacity reasons? Maybe because it fills/competes well? How much F/J does it have? 14F 52J? The 77W has 14F and 56J I believe. No more 50J 747s. From 2003-2014 I flew BA between IAD and LHR every couple of months, was always a mix of 747 or 777 for me but the 767 also operated an additional frequen...Jump to post
Great report! I really enjoy reading these older ones.... I never got the chance to fly TWA but your report makes me feel sad for it in a way. You can tell there had been no investment for years thanks to all the people raping it for all its assets. Frankly those cabin pictures look like early 1980s...Jump to post
Thanks for sharing. QSuites look amazing. I feel like it's the only civilized way to experience a 16 hour flight! Well, last year I did CX First HKG-JFK, a similar length flight, and that was even more civilized! http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1399563 But yes, QSuites is def...Jump to post
Thank you for the comments! Thanks for sharing. Never knew that Qatar flew to Chiang Mai. Due to the Gulf blockade I haven't been following them as much as I used to. As noted in my previous report we had flown in from Chiang Mai the day before, staying at the nearby Sharq Village & Spa. I've lived as an adult in both the UK and the US so familiar with driving in both. The standard of driving in the UK is, IMO, much higher in that lane discipline is something that people observe and that driving is something people are very conscious about so you really won't see people texting/usin...Jump to post

This is really more an issue with the US tax structure (and likely global as well). You can dislike him (I sure do, he is a poor president) but for business and taxes, showing losses on paper in one way to adjust the tax burden. And anyone should want to pay as little in taxes as they can. Bloomber...Jump to post

Only you can decide if the benefits are worth $120 TO YOU.

I’m afraid I’m not a fan of melon, watermelon, cantaloupe etc. so this fruit plate was straight from the depths of hell! The worst since AS F in 2006, not that I keep a ranking At least there were some bits to pick on the FRA-SIN equivalent!
Thanks! The other report I posted was my first flight on the A380 too! I just had a combination of flying the wrong airlines/routes and bad timing. Qantas Club is a paid membership, which I assume is tied to your QF FF account. However I don’t see why you can’t credit the flight to AS. There are quite a few hotels close to the cruise terminal. Depends on the flight. I'll enjoy a drink or two onboard for sure. I flew UA's second oldest 777 in 2018. Older than most AA's MD-80s at 25 United's second 777 was delivered in June 1995, so you were a few years short of 25 if you flew it last year. Maybe I'm just odd but age of aircraft really doesn't bother me in the slightest. If the cabin is as rough as a badg...Jump to post
In my experience, the far and away most common reason folks don't get TSA Precheck is that they either forget to input or do not input correctly their Trusted Traveler number. Or that they’re flying a non-participating airline and assume they still get access. I’ve had Global Entry for almost 10yrs...Jump to post
As someone who almost exclusively flies F/J and does write a few trip reports I’d say it’s because simply there is more to write about in premium cabins. Macau is a good call and very easy to do.
