I just flew through IAD in July, and that terminal needs a of work. they need to add more seats and charging stations near the gates. Carpets need a re-fresh,IAD is my least favorite airport when it comes to UA's hubs. at the end of the day, i'm glad to see UA is investing in improving LAX and IAD.

These craft arrive and depart HKG not passenger ready. All service items (galley equipment, medical emergency items, safety cards,etc) everything not part of structure, are removed, replaced in HNL. Given this particular flight is now delayed 18 hours...so far... for Mx doesn’t help either. i'm ass...

788 have the B/E Diamond seats 789 have the Super diamond seats. Interesting that the -8s are 2-2-2 in J while the -9s are 1-2-1. Is it because the 788s are used for shorter flights? they were originally ordered for short regional flights within asia, but they started using them on longhaul flights...

There was a spreadsheet showing the list of planes in the UA fleet with upgrades/mods/retrofits. Is there an updated one? UA seems to be moving fairly quick with the Polaris mods.

Maintenance at HIAL. They fly the whale to Paris , Frankfurt , Tokyo and Osaka with seasonal operations on one of the two daily Heathrow flights . Didn't US Airways try to buy Delta in early 2007? I believe they tried it twice within a couple of months but failed on both occasions. DL was under Chapter 11 at that time. If you're talking about the APEX seats that are being used by Korean and Oman, i think it may be too big for the 757 and A321. I now UA is in the process of designing a new seat for the 73J, so lets see what they come up with. AA is happy with the Super Diamond they use on their A321T.

I agree here. "United PS" should really just become Polaris Transcon. Throw in access to the Polaris lounges at EWR, SFO and LAX, maybe add "Polaris Nooks" or the like in some of the United Clubs from cities that have transcon service but not international business class service...

Why? It currently flies ANC-IAH. ANC-IAH-ANC doesnt suffer from heavy headwinds though. Flights from the west coast to the east coast wont have any issues, its flying west..... Perhaps it also has to do with fleet replacement? IIRC the last few UA 744s were all based in SFO, so it make sense for those flights to be replaced by 77Ws mostly. (77W being the "one-for-one" replacement for 744...yes, capacity is different, but it's as close as it gets without going in...

50 Polaris seats on the 772! How many are there on the 77W? I have flown in the Polaris seat and think it's great, especially the forward facing seat with 3 or 4 windows. If they get J fares for those 50 seats they will make a lot of money on those 772s. It does seem like the Polaris 767 is the way...
