Re: Ever Had a Connecting Flight Through Your Home Airport?

Not a connection but did have to do a convoluted routing through it. I wanted a staff discount ticket for a flight to PVR but the only availability was from MAN even though it operated through LGW. Ended up flying LHR-MAN to fly back down to London and on to Mexico. A total pain despite the low price.

Get an L1011 back in the sky..admittedly not at the expense of everything below, but it would be nice. Penthouses in London, Miami, Sydney. Funds set up for friends and family. At least half of it would be donated to charities that I like - Parkinsons, Trussell Trust, Reubens Retreat, BHF and so on....

I am thinking about a Norwegian Fjords cruise on the Iona. Has anyone done this cruise or have experience of the Iona. A ship with 5,000 passengers and 184,000 tons sounds more like a smallish town rather than a ship. Is it's size a problem, given that most of the journey is not In the open sea?. B...

Only ever heard them referred to as "W" routes. Used to work for a tour operator - they chartered aircraft all of the time that did these types of flights, particularly to less popular destinations, i.e MAN-PUY-LGW-PUY-MAN. Made good use of an aircraft for the day and avoided dead sectors.

Fun question!

Longest in a narrow body: LH / Privatair BBJ EWR-MUC.

Shortest in a wide body : QF 747-400 MEL-SYD. Went up like a rocket straight to 41000ft. Incredible.

Edit: Just remembered I flew MAN-LGW on a Britannia 767-300 but it was just one of the two stops on the journey to PVR, via MCO.
