The pic in the NYT article looks telling. Wings intact, engines intact, front section intact. But totally burnt cabin. Appears that the fire broke out there. As its reported it was a COV patient transport with a companion, perhaps something related to oxygen?Jump to post
Czech republic announced complete travel ban as if Monday. No foreigners in, no Czech people out.
Austria bans all flights to France, Spain and Switzerland.

No single order for Boeing in Jannuary, a first since the 1960ies, according to this article (german) in Austria’s derstandard.at:
https://www.derstandard.at/story/200011 ... uer-boeing
Not even a widebody order in for them.
The Airbus proposal included enhancement of the opportunities available for the vigorous return of Sudan-Air to outer space and provision of technical support for the operation of the aircraft.
bold plans! though i was ignorant of Sudan Air‘s outer space adventures.
I went through it yesterday morning, transiting from CGK to PRG. Circling for more than 1.5 hours over Oman before landing. It was kind of funny to see hundreds of buckets everywhere in the terminal but then finding out that the toilets and showers in the lounge were all closed because of lack of wa...Jump to post
KLM is suspending all flights to Iran and Irak today. Just watched an “aviation expert” explaining why the 737MAX may never fly again. Once you halt the supply chain it is nearly impossible to re-start it with the same economies of scale. I saw that Spirit have started producing 767/KC-46 forward fuselages.. maybe they can find other work.. also they ...Jump to post
Aviation Week is reporting that cracks have been found in other locations on the Pickle Forks and planes will have to be re-inspected. I would be more interested in the expansion plans itself. Seems a tad overoptimistic at current times to expand that airport even further.Jump to post
The brand strategy doesn't really help. Flying PRG-BRU frequently, where there are two options: Czech Airlines and Brussels. Now, Czech Airlines is a horrible one which I try to avoid. But what do I gain booking Brussels, and finding myself on a Czech Airlines plane operating for Eurowings operating...Jump to post

So Boeing are over in China holding workshops about bringing the 737MAX back into service. The Chinese are one of Boeings biggest customers, will be vital that the Chinese regulator agrees with the FAA about giving the 737MAX the green light. Hopefully Trump will not throw a spanner in the works. h...Jump to post
Milestone payments are not not being made, but Boeing will still be paying Spirit and CFM. Is Boeing paying for the engines or the airlines, as is the case usually with bigger planes? I remember that Boeing said CFM keeps production rates to compensate for the troubles in the beginning. Now, if Boe...Jump to post

So, was booked on Brussels from PRG to BRU and ended up on a Eurowings flight (Eurowings name on the side of the plane) with a Czech Airlines tail. Just wondering what the exact strategy of LH is...
Especially as I booked Brussels to avoid Czech Airlines.
Aside what has been the origin of the emergency, this needs to be looked at from design perspective and carefully analysed. People in the rear had no chance at all. It needs to be studied if improvements in the design of the cabin nacelle could possibly avoid such a situation in the future. Landing ...Jump to post
Got myself upgraded, but have gold status.
Lots of families around me, clearly not business folks. And fulled to tge last seat, thats why i assume they will use every single seat during the closure.
Just left DXB on EK to PRG, take off immediately after a plane landed. Was surprised, thought we would queue.
On board, business cabin completely full, due to all the upgrades.
That said, the food on EK could use some overhaul. Grtting worse and worse.
I believe Boeing will be very careful with the fix. AS others have mentioned, the MCAS seems only half of the trouble. The AoA sensor, the integration to the ADIRU might provide some more headache as well. Now, just imagine the grounding is lifted and another MAX bites the dust, with the plane being...Jump to post
If one of the fixes Boeing is planning for is"not allowing MCAS to move control surfaces to the full length", I shake my head. One should think that they would consider before what the effects of full deflection would be. And as its designed to overrule the pilot, its rather to be expected...Jump to post
As sad as the end of the line for the big bird is, at least we will see a bit more diverse fleet again at EK. The 380 is unmatched in comfort for me (with looooots of flights with EK each year...) But nice to see that the 350 will arrive there. Aloing with 777x and 330neos and perhaps 787 (which I d...Jump to post
Simple, regardless if he is a creep or not: No male crew on board? if no, management to blame, as such things are foreseeable, if yes, cabin crew to blame. You guys gave me a big laugh right now. Thanks! needed one. These beasts! How dare they wanna fly an airplane. Happy to hear! I am flying EK intensively and the A380 is just the most comfortable plane anywhere around, even in Y class. Few days ago, HG admitted to terminate ALL european cities by end of January and focus on a new venture with TUI. Also AUH to be discontinued.
Sadly, no one here in the forum seems to care anymore. Also no thread on the mayhem at IST airport due to weather.

Airport closure and diversions must create havoc there, with most of their pax transitting.
