RE: Paint In The Wings...why Not?

How do airlines such as AA and Aeromexico protect the fuselage of their airplanes with the bare metal look finish? Is there a clearcoat or something applied to the bare metal?

RE: Paint In The Wings...why Not?

Costs less and weighs less. That much paint is sure to add many pounds to a wing. Some airlines do paint the wings though.

RE: Why NW Flies DC-10 This Long

Whenever I fly, I always look to see what aircraft are being used on which flights and sometimes end up getting up an extra hour early or staying up for a later flight just to fly on an older or rarer aircraft. When I fly Delta out of Cincinnati here, I always make it point to get a flight on a 732 ...

Engine Pylon Construction

Everytime I fly or look at an airliner, I can't help but notice how puny the engine pylons look in comparison to how much force is exerted on them. Does anyone have a webpage or more info about what these look like inside and what materials are used to construct them and how they are attached to the...

Dayton (DAY) Spotting

Anyone have any luck or bad experiences at this airport? Any good spots? I am going to be in Dayton for new years and since where we will be is close to the airport, I'm going to drive over for a look.

Take Off On The Roll

I was recently on a <acronym title="United Airlines (USA)">UA</acronym> flight (<acronym title="Columbus - Port Columbus International (CMH / KCMH), USA - Ohio">CMH</acronym>-<acronym title="Minneapolis / St. Paul - International / Wold Chamberlain Field (MSP / KMSP), USA - Minnesota">MSP</acronym>)...

Length Vs. Stabilizer Height

I have noticed that when a shortened version of an airliner comes out (such as an A330-200, 747SP, 737-500, etc.) they have to make the vertical and horizontal stabilizers larger. I'm sure there is a logical explanation as to why this is necessary and was hoping someone could explain...thank you.

Lufthansa Cargo At CVG

I happened to catch one of these Lufthansa <acronym title="Air Madagascar">MD</acronym>-11s at <acronym title="Covington / Cincinnati - Northern Kentucky International (Greater Cincinnati) (CVG / KCVG), USA - Kentucky">CVG</acronym> one day and was wondering what days/times these fly. RE: Deltas 737-232s

hirisk, I make it there about every other weekend for a few hours. It's only about a 25 minute drive from my house. I've always been an aviation buff, but just recently got into going to the airport and actually watching, scanning, and photographing. <acronym title="Covington / Cincinnati - Northern...

Deltas 737-232s

I spot often at <acronym title="Covington / Cincinnati - Northern Kentucky International (Greater Cincinnati) (CVG / KCVG), USA - Kentucky">CVG</acronym> and although I rarely fly from there, or on Delta for that matter, I notice that they still operate a ton of the 737-200 series planes. They are g...

Interesting Sight At CVG Today

I was doing some spotting at <acronym title="Covington / Cincinnati - Northern Kentucky International (Greater Cincinnati) (CVG / KCVG), USA - Kentucky">CVG</acronym> today, was quite busy. At about 1:45pm a Delta <acronym title="Air Madagascar">MD</acronym>-80 (80 something!) was on final approach ...

RE: CVG Photography Trip This Week

Another good place to go is the Delta/Comair office building parking lot. I'm not sure if you are really supposed to park there or not, but for short term viewing/photography its great and a lot closer than the provided viewing area. I'm not sure if it's L or R, (kind of new at the observing) but it...
