To the OP, remember that the Deregulation Act was 1978, the economy in the early '80s was crap, and Western merged with Delta in 1987. There wasn't a lot of time to be creative. South America wasn't open skies in the 1980s, so airlines still had to compete for route awards. When WA got LGA slots an...Jump to post
Maybe it should be in polls and preferences, because I prefer OAG to release it on Sunday....
Side note: Why is there even any military aviation related stuff here if it is AIRLINERS.net?
TVF is an EAS city, so it is supported by the federal government.
I am not sure how any of these EAS locales can just be axed 100%. Seems odd but who knows anymore.

It’s been a few years since WN has served any of these markets.
But it doesn't look like the 'future SLC' that was depicted under glass for all those years lol. My first flight alone was a Saturday in June 1983 BOI-SLC-BOI. Down on Frontier 737 and back Western 727. Nice WA pilot even bought my dinner for me at the old restaurant where McDs is/was now by C ( or ...Jump to post
Found an article that has a section about BFI in it: https://airlinegeeks.com/2020/07/02/jsx-announces-new-services/ What a terribly written piece. Harbour? Harbor? same line? LOL. I have never been to 'the Vegas". I wonder where that is?? Also, I mat be incorrect here, but didn't the company ...Jump to post
Only one pilot for the Metro !? That’s real flying alright. Those guys can hand fly an approach to mins while telling you that you ain’t sh%t and man I’ll believe them. Give me a single pilot cargo guy any day! Ok, fine. And what’s the FAA thinking ´bout that ? Well, the fact that it is being done ...Jump to post
Good for FMN. Driving from Texas to Idaho in 2018, I went to FMN and looked at terminal and was trying to envision when Frontier I flew Convairs into there, and Mesa's beginnings.Jump to post

Empire Airlines served PDX from OLM and AST, plus AST from HQM and SEA with SWM IIIs in summer '93. I think it only lasted that one season as they retreated then quit pax service in '95 to focus on the flying for FedEx.
Also WestCoast/AirWest did BKE-ALW.
[quote="727LOVER"]That's it for domestic airlines in 1978iish ??? no Braniff? no North Central? no Frontier? no Ozark?[/quote Well prederegulation options were limited by who the CAB felt was necessary to serve a route. Looking forward to this new terminal. Will be a great addition for DL. It will also make a connection a lot more smooth than going though a place such as DEN. One flew CNY-DEN-PDX and has to connect in DEN. I arrived on A concourse on the East side then left on the end of B concourse west side. Lon...Jump to post

Is there still a minimum number of flights a station needs to have in order to be staffed by full time WN employees? For ramp service. In our TWU contract anything over 14 daily departures must be staffed by WN ramp union members. Anything less than 14 can be outsourced to contract employees. Not q...Jump to post

I would like to see them add some of the "non WN" style places like BIL FAR FAT TYS etc while somewhat slow and able to grab any of the folks flying from there that usually use the carriers that are shrinking those places' options. Not too long ago (last fall) WN sold an SMF-MSP routing that went SMF-BOI, then connecting flight was BOI-MSP with a stop in OAK. And there were bags and pax seemingly each day doing this. I bet they were amused to learn the enroute stop was 100 miles from where they started. Wonder what the fare di...Jump to post

Heck I would bet YKM had more pax then. More flights, better schedules. Famous story of Hughes Airwest fight getting out early just after blast to avoid DC-9 damage.Jump to post
ADK does not have screening equipment - everyone has to check in 4 hours prior to the flight so everything can get searched by hand. Really? Can't deduce that the corporate name is what us being referred to?
I personally find it decent enough name.
More apt name would be "Essential Airlink". .
Oh, and that is a suggestion to replace Boutique Air name if one can't figure that out.....
The 160 number includes Alaska, which accounts for 46 of the airports by my count. This is huge for Contour, but also significant for Cape Air and Boutique as well. It's still problematic for the "low bid" Skywest cities (like CMX, ESC, and DDC) but being able to essentially cut unnecessa...Jump to post

It would seem to me that if ever there was a community that required essential air service it would be Dutch Harbor. Dutch harbor doesn’t need essential air service. Perhaps the airlines are more cutting majority of flights as weeks go by sporadically instead of a general explicit flight.
