IMO, focus city is the wrong term to use, since there definition doesn’t match up with the traditional definition. It’s unlikely the likes of BNA and SJC will get p2p service, so they will simply be large outstations. DL has labeled SJC, BNA, AUS, etc. internally as focus cities for quite some time...

But remember, CRTs burn-in and discolor. They don't last much more than 10 years or so. My guess is that they're mostly gone, even in the third world. Great points, as well - and I can't imagine they would be cost-effective to replace either after such use. The longevity is much more than 10 years....

I’m tired of people thinking ONT is the saving grace for LA area airports. In the current state It’s not. The place isn’t bustling even during peak travel times. You could leave Dallas at 1-2am and arrive in Tokyo at 4-5am. This allows people to connect into DFW all day (including late flights after work) and people to connect out of Tokyo on the early bank of flights. Not to mention it's a lot easier to sleep overnight vs an awful boring 11am-3pm day time ...

I hope DL operates the M88 on ATL-TVC before the type is retired!

DL still flies the M88 into ORD at least twice daily. The other flights are typically operated by 717 and MD-90. Given that CHI is a hub for AA, UA and WN, I expect that ORD will be among the first routes to see the A220-300.

The reason DL named SJC a focus city is likely HKG. DL has struggled serving HKG in the past, and Northern California is the largest domestic market to HKG. I bet DL will announce JFK-SJC-HKG service soon.
