If oil prices drop dramatically a company like Allegiant with its fleet of ancient 160 passenger MD-80's could come out looking real good, since they get them for pennies on the dollar and fill them up. Might be bad news for Airbus and Boeing.

There is a AD to check the #3 window frame for cracking, just got done replacing a whole frame on a Sun country 737, the next one we got was bad too so Boeing engineered a fix instead of a replacement which was a major job.

The higher the horsepower output on a piston engine the higher the failure rate, there's a reason you still see more single radials Pratts flying than the multi radials. Just look at the problem of the CAF's B-29 Fifi, its always engines keeping them on the ground.

That used to be the area when we swung the vertical stab to remove the rudder on its side to provide a safe area to walk without damaging structure. There was one also on the top of the horizontal stabs.
