Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2020

I sure hope AA getting cozier with AS will help undo some of the crummy stuff AA has been doing in SAN recently -- including back when DCA was moved to LAX... IMO, AS remains very keen on SAN and growing their op's here; I certainly can't say the same for AA. bb Since AS has joined Oneworld, perhap...

A perfect replacement for the HA A330 that goes away in January! The limited success they had (for their investors) was on account of being a new airline and getting by with slave wages and conditions for their employees. UA has done similar upgauges out here on the West Coast during the summer, with routes like SFO-MFR/SMF/FAT and LAX-SAN seeing 737-800s and -900s during the summer. Not completely surprised to see them doing similar upgauges on >500 mile routes from EWR as well in anticipation of the holiday rush.

Didn't the majors park 727s quickly after 9/11? I recall DL phasing out 727, L1011, 733 (glass and non-glass) 732 all in short order. DL kept the 732's til around 2005 and the 733's til around then as well...maybe into 06. Actually the opposite. The 733s were retired before the 732s! The -200s last...
