Re: Oregon Aviation Thread - 2019

Total flights at PDX for the month of April dropped to 14,094 from 14,874 in April 2018. Hard to believe with the population growth and a relatively booming economy. The port has a lot of work to do to reverse this. So first, not sure where you're getting those numbers. According to the report, the...

So there are standards about on-concourse amplification, speaker placement, message, etc. Concourse B, for example, is at approximately the corner of 20th and Brunside. Look at this Airport Cooperative Research Project report: https://pubsindex.trb.org/view/2018/C/1496281 In it, you'll see: the high...

Re: Richard Branson may start a new US airline venture after Alaska spat

I flew VX for the first time a couple of weeks ago LAX-JFK, EWR-SFO, and SFO-PDX. I found it interesting, but underwhelming. The planes are nice and fairly comfortable, and the in-flight service concept is unique, but none of it is worth a premium. I thought the mood lighting on the plane was a litt...

Apparently my earlier reply was deleted, so I'm reiterating a couple of thoughts here: Suggesting that someone deserves bodily harm for standing up for themselves in a non-threatening situation is just simply absurd. This man did not deserve the outcome, regardless of the rules or the statutes or th...

I think that's quite a bit of hyperbole. Will there be changes? Certainly. The total cessation of flights, though? Absolutely unlikely.

The difference to some is that Jetblue at least seemed to have more in common with Virgin America. I'm not sure how accurate or relevant it is, but for those who wanted something "different", Jetblue was the next best thing. Sure, but AS had the checkbook, and that's what counts. Were B6 ...

I don't think the impact from obesity has a demonstrable direct impact on costs like fuel, etc... but there is an argument that there are indirect costs -- for example, the perception of crowded cabins causing people to book away. It's a weak argument, though, since it would affect all airlines, not...
