If you think they are lined up in IND, you should visit the ramp here at MEM some night! It is incredible to watch.

<i>It's amazing. People pay $200 less for their flight on an LCC, but they expect the LCC to do things a Legacy carrier won't do for them!</i> I personally don't expect that at all. RE: FedEx Future Fleet And A380?

18/36C is definitely up to the task of handling the A380. FedEx has acquired the area that currently serves as the National Guard ramp, where they currently park C-5's, in order to have the gate spaces for the A380. The kicker is, that all of the asphalt will have to be ripped up and the foundation ...

Alright, that makes sense then. The L9N is just basically a shorter version of the A2N I suppose? Looks like an efficient load.

RE: AA Stored 767, FedEx?

"UPS uses the A2n in the belly of the 767 and AB6 as well"

An actual container or pallet? I don't see how the container could possibly fit into the lower deck. I can certainly see how they could use the pallet built to belly height, as FedEx does this on the widebodies with PAG pallets.

Been on the ramp for nearly five years now. As much as I enjoy the ramp I hope to end up in the cockpit someday! How long have you worked in A/C Mx for FedEx?

RE: AA Stored 767, FedEx?

So factoring in the larger LD3's versus the LD2's in the belly, the total space used probably comes out to be very close.

RE: AA Stored 767, FedEx?

Ok, I am amazed by this, but the main deck on the 767 can hold more than the A300. The AMJ container actually has 607 cubic ft. of space available, of which 9 of those containers can be used. The AYY containers have 201 cubic ft. of available space, of which 19 are used. That totals out to be 9282 c...

RE: AA Stored 767, FedEx?

<i>"UPS 763 can hold 24 A2n cans on the main deck"</i> How does the A2n container relate in size to the AMJ? Does UPS used AMJ's on aircraft or do they only use them for CTV Truck Transport? With the AMJ and AYY configuration there is a slight waste of space, but in height only with the AYY containe...

RE: AA Stored 767, FedEx?

767s, to best use their space, use a nonstandard container I believe.

I wonder what the type of container is used then? On the 306/310 we use a combination of AMJ and AYY containers on the main deck, with dual LD3's on the lower.

RE: Fedex Ordered The A380. Why UPS & DHL Won't?

While I can't wait to see the A380 up close, I am still not convinced that it was the best investment for the company. The ramp constuction cost alone that is going into being able to support these aircraft is amazing.

RE: AA Stored 767, FedEx?

I have been curious of the load configuration on the 767 for some time. On the A306 or A310 there is somewhat of a 1.5 container load used. Any UPS guys on here that can shed some light on this for me?
