Re: FedEx plane makes emergency landing at LAX

Amazing landing by the pilots. This could have gone terribly wrong, engine could have ignited, plane could have flipped if the cargo would have started shifting. The sparks seem to have started from the opened gear doors scraping the runway, before the plane fell onto its side and the engine starte...

Re: Enter Air orders up to 4 additional 737 MAX aircraft

In my mind, a 737-8 is a 737-800...an NG model along with the 737-700 and 737-900. They've got to come up with something better or there'll be too much confusion. If I recall when they announce the 737 max it was always known as 737-8,-7,-9 as they changed the naming to match that of the 787-8,-9 &...

It has been confirmed by Airbus that the aircraft has sustained damaged while in the paint hanger. The damage is said to have been caused by some of the equipment in the hanger. Its an A350-1000 most likely to be registered G-XWBD. "FlightGlobal understands, from a source familiar with the situ...

Re: Dubai Air Show 2019: Other Manufacturers Orders, announcements and discussion thread

Ok, I'm showing my ignorance here . If DH4 is the DHC-8 400, what would the Viking DHC-4 be? What is the designation for thee DHC-6 400? oh no, I'm also a little confused. And can we still call it Q400? there are many different aircraft that used the DHC-X naming convention just like 7X7 A3XX serie...

FedEx Has announced that they are retiring or parking as many as 35 planes due to dropping demand. So we will probably see some of these ending up in the desert fairly soon.

Re: United Continental Holdings changing name to United Airlines Holdings

I can't say I'm all that surprised to say the least, I must say i had forgotten that the Continental name was still in the holding company. It seams to fit to me as the "New" livery has gone to a pretty much blue livery that reminds me more of the livery of per-merger United being mostly b...

Re: LH to order 100 B737MAX or A320NEO next year

Of course there is. - capacity, range the MAX has nothing comparable to a A321LR. Sales confirm. - cabin space 17 inch seats combined with narrow aisles aren't ideal for 6-7 hr flights. - cargo capability.. do really we have to discuss again? - engine choice (LH has LEAP As on order) There is choic...

Re: LH to order 100 B737MAX or A320NEO next year

There is no significant difference between the NEO and MAX on capacity, range, cabin space, cargo capability engine choice (LH has LEAP As on order) or efficiency. Re: What MAX Ban Means For Air Canada TATL

Out of curiosity, why did AC go for the 737MAX when they could've bought the A320neo? There's always B offering a better deal from A, but what other factors made them go for it? I also believe the crew training as the move up the Mainline fleet was a factor going from 737 -> 787 -> 777 (I could be ...

Re: Which airlines have Airbus and Boeing done custom modifications for?

Although not purely Airbus but Air New Zealand is having ATR develop and certify RNP navigation system for their ATR planes to increase operational reliability in and out of Queenstown (ZQN) airport. If I recall this should be completed development in 2018. I do know that this is being developed com...

Re: MAS A380 lost nose wheel on landing at KUL

Anyone else notice R1 and R3 emergency slide doors have been swapped or replaced? Someone did: Besides the dirtiness of the plane, I also noticed two plain white panels below upper deck doors. Are these the escape slide hatches ? If so, does it mean the slides were used at some point, and they repl...

Re: Embraer Hopes Pinned on New Scope Clause in 2019-22

1. Airliners aren't even remotely close to flying themselves. The 737 can't even maintain a VNAV track that it calculated itself. The A320 won't start down at TOD half the time. Give me a call when they can interpret vectors over a gargled HF radio in broken english. The general public mistakes the...

Explain to me how the very scenario you describe here is not government intervention limiting the choice of aircraft in a given market, the very t...

First pic in the database. 4583761 Seems like they didn't put the roundel on the engine this time like they do on the 787. 4543911 The A330 also has the maple leaf on the belly, where as the 787 doesn’t... I wonder why they have the differences like that, I mean they are minor but still. It Is ther...

Could this be the reveal of a rumored new Livery .

I really do like their current one.

In Some other countries there are airlines named after states/provinces and even cities a few I can think of below. Canada used to have Air Ontario which became Air Canada Jazz in 2002. There is Qantas witch is short for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services and they are both states with...

And (strangely) ATR is not (currently) allowed to stretch the ATR-72. Would you please elaborate on this point? There have been numerous reports where Airbus a 50% shareholder in ATR has been quoted as being against such stretches of there planes. https://leehamnews.com/2015/03/03/ceo-i ... s-suppo...

Well thankfully I haven't had to evacuate an aircraft but I have had to evacuate a building with a fire (thankfully very small) and alarms going off.
