Do I recall correctly that there was a mention of construction at PHL that might be playing into that? Now that you mention it, I have some fuzzy recollection of that, too. Still, interesting to see them come back strong in Oct with 3x/day mainline. Did they run 3x/day E190 last year? Maybe they di...Jump to post
For the BTV watchers, I think everyone knows that AA is all-RJ at BTV for the summer peak season. But I was poking through the schedules and found that AA does a turnabout and brings mainline back on PHL-BTV in early Oct, with 3x/day E190s (in addition to 2x/day RJs). The 3x/day E190s continue into ...Jump to post
Will this be the first time DL has used the 737 (any variant) at BTV? I only recall the MD, 717 and A319/320. Maybe there has been an odd one or two subbing, but I don't recall anything regular. I'm 99% certain the -700 has been used previously for short stints. Not an odd subbing, but also not the...Jump to post
DL's Summer season starts 6/8. Changes from 1x 717, to 2x (737 and CR9). I'll be on the 737 on the 11th. Somehow my first true mainline to/from BTV from the Big 3. Most people probably wouldn't give a 737-700 a second glance. After all, Southwest operates 500+. But the DL 737-700 is a very rare bir...Jump to post
Contrary to popular belief airports are not Rec centers. They shouldn't be faceless Russian apartment blocks, either. There are a lot of "recreational" expenses that help make for a favorable visitor impression: The adirondack rocking chairs, the ceiling art in the old USAir part of the t...Jump to post
Yep, I can confirm BTV's plan to create a post-TSA walkway, connecting the North and South terminals. The cost is expected to be $300,000 and construction could start next month. Still trying to figure out how they're going to do this. For long-term aesthetic and logistic purposes, the hallway shou...Jump to post
OY (Omni Air) flew a military charter to BTV today with a 772. I believe this might be the first 777 at BTV. Does anyone know differently? I think you're right. The military charters have brought a menagerie of widebody types to BTV (off the top of my head: 742,744,A333,762,763,764,MD11), but I don...Jump to post
Yes, there is a Skinny Pancake on both sides. :blockhead: whoops, I was just through the S side in Jan on B6 and didn't even notice. According to airport commission meeting minutes a while back the cost to combine TSA was 'prohibitive'. I would think that joining the two ends of the terminal post-s...Jump to post
BTV will be closing the upstairs hallway within the next month. They will be making a hallway connecting both terminals post security. Interesting. I wonder why they feel compelled to do this. Are they planning to consolidate the security lanes? Is it that important to give pax in the S gate area a...Jump to post
And on the day of F9's inaugural DEN-BTV flight, UA starts dumping a 737-900 on ORD-BTV. Sheer coincidence, I'm sure The ice just went out on Lake Champlain, seems a little early for summertime capacity like the 737-900.Jump to post
DL 767-400 scheduled for BTV on Monday. Looks like another National Guard charter, given where it's going (Alexandria, LA). Think it'll be the first 764 flight op at BTV.

I’m a B6 fan, personally, but I think the best thing about today’s announcement is that unofficial yet amazing cake that someone posted up thread. Talk about stealing the show....Jump to post
I was pleasantly surprised at how many people came out to see them leave. Certainly a bigger crowd than I have seen for anything else including AF1. A nice bonus was that I only had to stick around another 10 minutes or so to see Frontier arrive and get my first up-close look at the A320 NEO. I als...Jump to post
For BTV, today marked the last operational flight of the F16 for the VT ANG. Last flight took off at 1:58pm, in tribute to the 158th FW. https://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/story/news/local/2019/04/02/vermont-air-national-guard-f-16-fighter-jet-final-flight-burlington-international-airport/333966400...Jump to post

I have read about the 757 also, and I think I might have even heard the USAir station manager at the time mention it, so I believe it was here. Interesting - maybe I'm not crazy after all :D The 757 is certainly larger and heavier than the A321, but according to my research an F9 A321 has a lot mor...Jump to post
I noticed on FR24 today that tomorrow's and next Thursday's flights are scheduled to be A321s. In terms of passengers I believe those will be the largest scheduled flights to have operated at BTV. Sometime in the 80's, USAir flew a one-off 757-200 PIT-BTV as a special upgauge around the Christmas h...Jump to post
Maybe they're just trying to shift a way from ORD for California/West Coast destinations? Seems unlikely. The 8am DEN-BTV could scarcely have worse timing for West Coast eastbound connections. The only way to make it work is to take the last DEN flight of the day out of SFO/SEA/etc., say 10pm, gett...Jump to post
Frontier’s very first flight into BTV happened to be an A320NEO, reg N329FR, Trixie the Fox:
The plot thickens..... exciting.
Worst-case is UA runs F9 off, then drops the route, leaving BTV back at square one. I hope the market responds and there ends up being room for both.

The flight has gotten way more buzz than Orlando, Denver will be a hit. There rightfully should be buzz. The Denver route lifts BTV from being an eastern-US regional airport to the national stage. MCO O&D is a bit less than DEN. RDU is about half of DEN. I could see MCO sticking around. RDU see...Jump to post
Allegiant was also competing with themselves at PBG, and there is probably too much overlap in the catchment area for both to do well for them. Great marquee route for BTV, they're longest scheduled route ever, by far. Also stands a good chance of giving BTV its first A320 NEO service. We all know Quebec travels (at least those that travel to BTV, or PBG for that matter) are very price-sensitive so F9 is probably able to find a market that ...Jump to post
Thanks for your responses. I figured this was basically a "black swan" event. But prob & stats aside, these special liveries are great marketing for Southwest. Even my non-aviation wife and friends ooh-ed and aww-ed as Tennessee One went over.
Happy New Year
This past Sunday afternoon (the 30th) three Southwest special liveries landed one after the other at SJC: Colorado One (SW5638 from SNA at 328pm) Tennessee One (SW3389 from BUR at 338pm) Triple Crown One (SW362 from LAS aT 340pm) These are straight from flightradar24, but I personally saw Tennessee ...Jump to post
It's worth noting that Deputy Aviation Director Nic Lungo mentioned re-paving of the concrete around the terminal will allow the accommodation of "Larger planes." The runway, at least, shouldn't really be an issue. I have seen plenty of military charters to Europe, and I doubt they travel light! BTV doesn't have a shorter runway like PWM. Full-sized runway should be no problem for an A330 or 787. Obviously PBG has a much, much longer runway that they don't u...Jump to post
I would love to see a 2-3x weekly transatlantic flight of they can put a customs/immigration station inside the terminal. Same here - I've been quietly hoping that BTV would move forward with an in-terminal customs facility, to beat PBG to the punch with Montreal-oriented transatlantic service. Cus...Jump to post
Seemed viable to me, until I realized it was a Winter seasonal flight. Canadians have plenty of other places to ski besides Vermont. For authentic, big-mountain skiing, Toronto residents can: 1) Drive (or fly) to Quebec (Mont. Tremblant or Mont. Sainte Anne), 2) Drive (or fly) to Vermont/New Hampsh...Jump to post
I don't know whether there's a 'cause and effect' here, but Frontier entering BTV and PWM has caused B6 to retrench a bit at both those stations. Oh? Has B6 made some noteworthy schedule/pricing changes at BTV since Frontier's announcement? Granted I don't follow these things on a daily basis, but ...Jump to post
I can't recall where I read it (maybe in airport commission minutes) but I believe BTV is very interested in getting BOS service. Upstate NY is absolutely political, as is ORH. BTV unfortunately does not benefit from any of that. The Mormon theory is interesting. ...Jump to post
BTV and Upstate NY along with ORH are served for POLITICAL reasons. New Air was many years ago...but ol Chuck Schumer is still around. It may also be that MCO is just not the best Florida gateway for BTV travelers. Yes. In 1984, when United started promoting service to all fifty states, one of the daily ORD flights went by way of BTV. Here it is at PWM in spring 1987. In 1988, the flight changed to ORD-BGR-PWM on 737-300. Ten years later, there was a PWM-MHT-ORD with 727. I flew on both. So there indeed was an ORD-BTV-PWM flight? I'm not disputing it, I just don't remember it personally. Speaking of the old days, we had an interesting visitor in BTV today - DC-9...Jump to post

The 01s also don’t have any obstacles or terrain off the end - it’s free and clear for nine miles across the bay, except for the occasional windsurfer mast. So the numbers for engine-out obstacle clearance and climb gradient should be about as favorable as can be.Jump to post
I can't recall where the AC A333 came from either. I think they actually cancelled the flight and de-planed. That's my recollection, too. The customs processing must have been a bear.
