Ryanair uses significnatly more aircraft during the summer than they do during winter. It makes more sense (and is cheaper) to wet lease additional aircraft during the summer months only than to add extra aircraft that won't be used during the winter.

AerCap may very well evaluate it at a later time but right now they have more pressing concerns. Acquiring ILFC gave them a massive amount of debt and their focus over short to medium term will be do pay down that debt.

I've occasionally seen statistics related to the operational cost of various aircraft posted on here. They've been sourced from the US DOT. Does anyone know where exactly on their website I can find those numbers? I'm interested to dig through them.
