Yochai and/or Fify: Can you tell us what if anything you have seen in the conversion line (or at TLV awaiting that line) besides the following: N391UP (I-AIGJ); N1501P; N304CM (former CC-CZT); N308CM (formerly CC-CZU); 430CJ 431CJ. Just trying to make sure I have it right. Also, any word around the...Jump to post

That's pretty quick. Seems like we usually see about a week in ILN before they come over. Must have been well-prepared in SBD.
N830WE due for an air test later today at TLV, expected delivery early next week. N392UP next up in a couple of weeks probably. N308CM arrived in TLV last night (will post photos on my IG account later today) Yochai, your N308CM photos are amazing! I didn't realize that LATAM had stripped the paint...Jump to post
CC-CZU was signed for by CAM yesterday. You know, it's been at ILN for a little over a week and is obviously the next ship to move into conversion, but what's the plan for it? I was thinking that if they want it for UPS this year , one possibility might be the IAI/Bedek line at MEX, which turned ar...Jump to post
N354AA did a first air test at TLV today following conversion, and seems like it had a lot more skin work done on it than previous conversions. A second test flight expected soon with delivery on target for later this week/early next week. I have posted some photos of the aircraft on my Instagram ac...Jump to post

Thanks MO11!! Now N304CM. Noticed it went to ILN on 6/28, but didn't focus on it as a possible purchase, given the huge volume of feedstock available to CAM from other sources.
Hey Yochai, first of all thanks for all those amazing insights into the Israeli Aviation scene you always give, much appreciated! :) :) Just a quick question - what makes you think that LY would launch EZE flights in W20? It seems that the booming markets for Israel are the US and Asia, both of whi...Jump to post
Until Malaysia or Indonesia recognize Israel and enable aircraft flying to/from Israel over their airspace, it just wouldn't happen. Any other route would add a number of hours that would make such a flight nonviable. It’ll be very interesting to see when the financial benefits of allowing airspace...Jump to post

Effective December 1st, BA will upgrade the red eye BA163/2 LHR-TLV-LHR from Boeing 787-8 to Airbus A350-1000 with the following schedule:
BA163 LHR 2055-0340+1 TLV D
BA162 TLV 0615-0940 LHR D
Flights loaded into reservation systems already.
An ex-DL B763ER, N1501P, is now on the move after it's retirement from DL's fleet, and will become a freighter. I wonder why it was retired in the first place if it wasn't ready to be scrapped? El Al is selling used 767-300ER to a foreign airline https://en.globes.co.il/en/article-el-al-sells-boeing-767-300-1001282185 That might be 4x-eak, AFAIK the only 767 owned by ElAl and not leased. The one they owned was 4X-EAP, which is an 8-door frame. That was sold to the co-owner of Eastern Airl...Jump to post
Awesome, Yochai! Thanks for the update. I'm so intrigued that 730WE is still there. By my notes, it has been there since 8/29/18 -- eight months! 730 was scheduled for a test flight this morning but cancelled. Right now scheduled for delivery on Friday to Shannon but not sure it will happen this we...Jump to post
AA left a lot of cargo behind in TLV every day as the A330-200 just couldn't make it to PHL with a full load. I guess with a 787 this flight could be very profitable for them, but they seem to focused on other markets leaving it to El Al (various frequencies JFK,EWR,LAX,MIA,BOS and soon SFO,LAS and ...Jump to post

At least it gives me another chance to spot 354AA when it leaves ILN again. It was really neat to see it inflight in the distance as I was flying Looks like it is in the air again, 2/13/19 at 3pm-ish EST, heading again to TLV. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N354AA/history/20190213/2000Z/KILN/L...Jump to post
At this point, it seems like they are pulling an F9 and kind of just throwing a dart at a US map to pick new destinations. First LAS, which still doesn't make much sense to me, now MCO. Disney is a great vacation spot, but Disney Paris is much closer. Even Disney Tokyo is closer. I don't think Disn...Jump to post
This is a route that would actually be best once the B77Es are densified to 3-4-3 in Y at 320 seats or so...along with BKK and LAS. The plan is a mix of B77Es and B789s. The B77Es could be used for leisure destinations primarily while the B789s go to more premium destinations. (LY to me still has a...Jump to post
How many fire trucks are on standby for aircraft refuelling versus how many aircraft require refuelling? If you exclude the time to disembark and reboard ~300 passengers that'd leave you with about 20 minutes to clean and recater the aircraft. Local Israeli procedures do not allow refuelling with passengers onboard either so you'd struggle to refuel in that 15/20 minutes anyway. 1h45 sounds like a typ...Jump to post

Right engine losing and continuing to lose oil quantity. Didn't declare an emergency, but turned around and returned to ILN.

They down gauged it even more - it's an A330-300 now IIRC. TLV-NYC has way too much capacity these days. So not surprising that LY would want to operate less seats on this route. DL A333s have more seats than the B77E did pre-refitting. As for LY, a B78X with about 340 seats in J-W-Y+-Y would make ...Jump to post

Crew most definitely would not do there and back. LHR-TLV would be about 4h 45m, so the return flight can certainly be operated by the same crew. However as VS is not accustomed to doing this kind of return mid-range operation there would need to be an agreement with the flight and cabin crews for ...Jump to post
