It may be on the private access roadway just past the lower carpark, however, there is a spot up at the intersection of Puhinui and Orrs Rd, you can just make out the end of the runway and the planes go almost overhead. Just one observation from the image data - it looks like you are using either the "P" or "Auto" setting on a Nikon D80. Try shooting in "M" or the "A" mode, so you can lock the aperture to the sizes suggested above. This can be tricky and may take some practice to get right. In the P or Auto setting...

If you are considering low end Nikon DSLRs, don't be tempted into purchasing the D40/D40x/D60 owing to lens compatibilities.
