Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q2 2019

ET had 50% of the Fatal Accidents in the last ten years with Pilot error at least a contributing factor. I am referring to AF447, Colgan 3407, ET409 and ET302. No more accidents had pilot error as a contributing factor? Are you suggesting, for instance, that OZ214 in SFO was exclusively Boeing's fa...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

This is consistent with what I suggested earlier. At 05:43:00, the flight was doing okay, the the pilots apparently have saved the flight from the initial MCAS malfunction. They then turned electrical trim power back on and made a small upward manual electrical trim input at 05:43:15, I don't think...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

Eu hrs haven’t change and neither has their accident rates. Whereas the US has a perfect record the last decade. Perfect record in the US in the last decade? I can recall at least five accidents in the last 10 years: FedEx (Tokyo), AA (Jamaica), DL (LGA), and, very recently, WN (PHL) and Atlas Air ...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

Ethiopian has a good reputation as an airline, right ? Actually they’ve fatally crashed a 738, this decade, just after take off, due to poor piloting. This to me looks more similar to today’s incident than the JT610 incident so maybe it’s an Ethiopian Airlines issue, not the MAX: The final report r...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

I think the most important point here is that Lion Air and Ethiopian crashed two brand-new 737MAXs. Even if its related to the design, somehow these problems lead to accidents more often in some parts of the world than in others. It wasn't AA and UA or Norwegian and Icelandair. I'm sure everyone un...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

Incredibly sad and very worrisome. People might want to keep their heads in the sand, but this is eerily similar to the Lion AIr crash: two 737-8MAX that literally fall out of the sky soon after take off (the FR24 data stops at 8600 ft, yes, but that's three minutes before the crash; there's no FR24...

Re: Lion Air 737MAX8 Crashed Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang

Without the AF recording you wouldn’t know how completely out of sorts that flight crew was. Once it was found, Air France wasn’t so forceful in their defense of the pilots, nor were the AF plants here in Anet. It may be worth mentioning that France, Air France, and Airbus payed for several campaig...

From EK's Tweeter account: "We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew. All passengers and crew are accounted for and safe." This is quite amazing after looking at the videos and pictures. An outstanding job by the crew and airport services.

What makes KLM/AirFrance (along with a few other multinational mergers) different is that they are carriers based in separate nations serving rather nationalistic markets. Actually, I do believe we may have hit an innovation barrier in commercial aviation. An example will suffice: the 737MAX is based on technology from 1960 and will still be the state of the art in narrowbody aircraft technology in 2020 and beyond: 60 years.
