Re: Aeroflot SSJ100 on fire at Moscow (SVO)

Russian resources report that it lost contact with ATC soon after takeoff and was landing without any guidance or communication. I find it hard to believe, that FlightRadar24 picked up the emergency squawk, and the airport authorities did not... apparently they did nothing though... even if ATC com...

Re: Aeroflot SSJ100 on fire at Moscow (SVO)

Note; after the first approach, during the 360deg orbit, two other flights were cleared to land in front of it. This does not suggest the aircraft was already on fire. The fact two other planes were cleared to land before it, and the fact there were no emergency vehicles dispatched for the emergenc...

Re: Aeroflot SSJ100 on fire at Moscow (SVO)

Wow, glad there are no fatalities. I find it strange that, at least on the videos I saw, it does not seem like they were met by any fire engines? may be we spoke too soon. according to latest news, there are indeed some fatalities :( I think this makes it more important to know where the fire crews...

Re: Paid lounge at FRA traveling to the USA

Thank you everyone for your feedback! I will look into the options to visit the city or use a shower... May be finding a nice restaurant and stay out of the secondary screening area a bit longer will do the trick to kill some time and get some work done, instead of seeking a lounge. I also will book...

Re: Paid lounge at FRA traveling to the USA

https://www.loungebuddy.com/FRA

Offers booking for lounges in Concourses B and C of Terminal 1... But I am not sure which concourse the flight will depart from. Is there security in between the two concourses?

Thanks,

George

Re: Paid lounge at FRA traveling to the USA

Thanks! I will check this out.

But I am willing to pay for any lounge, even if it is not Diners. Just want to make sure I can use it before the flight and I will not need to go through security after leaving it (this way I can stay there up to the boarding time without having to worry about it).

Paid lounge at FRA traveling to the USA

Hello everyone, Next month I am traveling to Tampa, with a long layover at FRA. I was checking what my options are to pay for a lounge (traveling in Economy), but before I book anything I wanted to make sure, I will be actually able to access the lounge as I am not sure which gates flights to Tampa ...

Re: An-148 crash near Moscow kills all 71 people on board

The Russian investigators just reported that the preliminary results of the flight data recorder indicate that 1)last minutes of flight the aircraft experienced substantial variation of IAS and 2) pitot heat was off during the entire flight for all three tubes . R.I.P. It has happened in the past.....

Pilots' Own Pre-flight Check List

hello everyone. this is something I have been wondering about since I last flew a Fokker, which evidently can take off with no flaps. Got a bit concerned at take-off that there is no flaps set and thought of spanair... then I started thinking -- as it has happened, pilots in a hurry, or for other re...

RE: Great Segment On Spirit (CBS Sunday Morning Show)

i really can't understand what everyone's problem with Spirit is. Just like other members said -- you need to know what you pay for. I have flown Spirit 5 times when visiting the USA and I have always been on time. I knew about my bag limits, etc up front. no hidden fees there. I was happy to purcha...

Hello everyone. This may be quite stupid question for most, but I would rather ask than be sorry  <img src="http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/graphics/smilies/smile.gif" width="15" height="15" border="0"/> I need to connect at <acronym title="Paris - Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) (CDG /...

RE: The Future Of Boarding Passes?

I know this can not be used for online check-in, but if you check-in at a counter or a machine at the airport, I can not see why nobody has introduced the fingerprint yet. You check-in, scan your finger print, and then re-scan it at boarding. Much more prone to hacking / printing fake boarding pass ...

RE: Spirit At O'Hare - A Success?

I have only flown 4 times on Spirit and the flights have been no different than Southwest or any low cost carrier in Europe. I can't really see what all the bashing is about. Actually one of the flights was quite enjoyable with nice crew and all (given it was to Vegas, so that may have had something...

Thanks man! I really enjoy your reports, especially with all the details about the cities you visit, etc. as opposed to just describing the flights.
