Re: Is it feasible for Aegean Airlines buy A321 ULR?

I don't see any reason in principle why they couldn't become a connecting airline like Turkish. The O&D Greece market isn't huge and they have essentially taken as much a share of that as they can probably realistically get without blowing up yields. If they have growth ambitions, seems like it ...

Re: Why did UA chose CPT over JNB?

Keep in mind that people can still easily use the flight to get to JNB via CPT. Connections on SAA are very reasonably priced. Personally, even if going to JNB from NYC, I would prefer to take the UA flight via CPT than the SA non stop to JNB on an ancient A340 with a J seat that is essentially a to...

Re: UA & LH Capacity from EWR

Also remember the SQ flight JFK-FRA. It dumps ~500 seats on an A380 daily on the route, completely blowing up O&D yields. Whereas NYC is a flagship, high yielding route for AF/KL/DL, it is a loss leader for LH/UA from FRA.

Re: Why does BA (and others) decide to use 20+ year old planes on specific popular routes?

I might even argue that BA's older aircraft have superior product to the new ones: 777s with 9 abreast in economy (v. 9 abreast on a 787, which is a much narrower aircraft) and 747s with storage bins on the upper deck. With the exception of Y+, seats are essentially the same. I don't think the exist...

Re: British Airways under fire for offering a new “afternoon tea” that doesn’t come with any tea

The biggest surprise to me here is that the tea isn't free, regardless of whether you have purchased a scone or not. Does BA really charge for coffee and tea on short haul flights? What exactly do they think their value proposition v. low cost carriers is? One of the world's great enduring mysteries...

So is this saying that if you fly to Venezuela you are banned from flying to the USA.

No. Just saying that direct flights between the two countries are no longer possible. You can still fly between them via a third country.

U.S. Suspends Flights to Venezuela

Breaking news that the Trump Administration has suspended flights between the US and Venezuela due to safety concerns. I wonder how this will affect the airlines and passengers involved. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-politics-usa-airlines/u-s-suspends-flights-between-the-u-s-and-venez...

Re: Is LGA Still Considered Worst US Airport?

In my experience, most people living in Manhattan prefer LGA. 15 minutes from midtown and 20 minutes from soho by taxi; 5 minutes from taxi to aircraft door. Can't think of many airports anywhere in the world as convenient as that. Sure, the roof leaks and the food options are poor, but that's not s...
