Buffet sells ALL airline holdings at a serious loss, just walked away: (Berkshire-Hathaway held about 10% of each of the big 4, DL, AA, UA, WN) Berkshire sells entire stakes in U.S airlines: Buffett (Reuters) - Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRKa.N) sold its entire stakes in the four largest U.S. airlines ...Jump to post
Thanks to their ungenerous change policies, NZ just screwed me out of my complete air fare. Since I booked LAX LHR in early December for May travel, they are only allowing credit up to that date of booking. I only have 2 travel windows to use my fare credit, May and Christmas. They need to change th...Jump to post
Well, in a bit of good news for the airlines, oil prices are TANKING, down 30% in one shot. This is more Saudi pissed off at Russia for not agreeing to cuts in production as well as Coronavirus fears. We are talking oil at $30. Astonishing drop.Jump to post
It slammed into the hill on the wrong side for CFIT. Unless it turned 180 to head back to the East. I hike about a mile north of this area and know where this is exactly. If visually following the 101, it does curve sharply, but does not turn back on itself. And Las Virgenes is a tiny road compared ...Jump to post
Why? I have to ask also.........why is that scary? Think folks. It's the same exact flight that he flew on a few months ago. And that flight just ended in a crash.. I totally understand the poster being a bit spooked. And I nearly asked to be booked on the the Air Bagan F100 that crash landed on a ...Jump to post
Building height is very much an issue at MIA. Many ‘supertall’ proposals there and the FAA has only allowed a few to proceed. You can see the pronounced dip in skyscraper height on the east approach to MIA. The height dramatically shortens as you go north from downtown. Probably MIA and SAN are most...Jump to post
I see the airports landed thread, how about Airlines Flown? Using the 2 digit IATA codes, have you flown the alphabet? (And the numbers?) And I am going to count merged and bankrupt airlines of years past, so flying Pan Am counts in this thread! Same with the regionals, go to town... A: AA, AF, AQ, ...Jump to post

Thanks for posting that.
As for a better camera, the best small camera is the Sony RX 100 series. The sensor on the RX series is many times bigger than any phone or even the gopro. And especially the Sony for video, they get high marks. Should easily fit in yout flight bag, very capable camera.

Finnair is AY, EY is Etihad.

Views of the new pickup area and the busses
This will go over like a lead balloon. 1)I find the hotel and parking shuttles are the worst offenders, all the time swinging in and blocking 2-3 lanes to pick up. Real A holes 2)The article says frequent shuttles and tha ability to walk there, that can only mean old Lot C? (Which I have had to wal...Jump to post

While waiting for family to arrive at LAX this morning I noticed the same NASA flight on FR24. Also noted an 330 tanker inbound over Canada, an AN 124 was Tulsa bound, too. Forgot how entertaining poking around on FR24 can be, as well as sitting at In-n-out and watching traffic.Jump to post
How about on time performance, my recent tries with them have been 0-4 in that metric. Short hop LA Vegas is fine, longer, nope, unless buying the big front seat, which is a fine product BTW. But if you're hours late, umm, no. And you have to price that big seat and compare to mainline, too. Its pre...Jump to post

Just booked a flight on them just now, thx to this thread reminding me to look at a particular seekend in Sept. Knowing that I have a ~10% chance of having to work on a particular weekend with usually a days notice, booking WN is a no brainer for me. Otherwise I flush my ticket down the drain on the...Jump to post
Never again for me, 4 segments delayed out of 4 flights. First and last time. I ended up buying a walk up fare on AS when my flight home was delayed 4:50. And wx was fine as I traced the flight back. Shrug. I went in with an open mind, wanted to like, but, um, no. Surprisingly AS BOS-LAX walk up on ...Jump to post
I've never hesitated to ask, so both. Once nice agents at chexk in at Cairo gave me bulkheads for the connecting 14 hr segment to LAX. Be nice, polite, make sure to ask for what you want, allow time...air travel is crappy enough for everyone, customer or employee these days, nice goes a long ways. (...Jump to post
This is typical for this situation. Go see the gate agent as soon as you can and request what you prefer. By no means does this mean you are stuck in the middle seat next to the toilets. I have gotten exit row seats before in this situation, and windows as I prefer, too. Including when Sprit failed ...Jump to post
Heck, I've been on an FR that took 4 attempts to land at CCF (Carcassonne) even videoed it and said "4th time is a charm"
I say 777-8. I think the extra freight will sway this in the B direction. But, really, its a coin flip unless this is part of a larger decision for the 777-9 or A359/10 in terms of a bigger picture/long term fleet decision to eventually replace the A380 down the road.Jump to post
Technically, no. A metal strip from a Continental flight caused a tire puncture and tire debris struck the underside (no puncture of fuselage/wing). The huge shockwave of the tire impact caused a fuel tank rupture which was then ignited by engine heat IIRC. (Just wiki'ed it and the actual ignition w...Jump to post

Yes, you can transit w/o visa, as I just did this summer. You cannot leave the sterile area, and you cannot switch airports, like to VKO.
