Jump to postthats a made up number and I was thinking more of the end of the Dayton airshow when every person there is taking that 1+ mile walk together.
Jump to postmade it out there and unlike the Dayton airshow there was barely any traffic, I used 23 to get in and out. The ramp was huge and had everything spread out which was nice because you wherent walking around with 50,000 of your closest friends but it kind of sucked if you wanted to go some where in par...
Jump to postinstead of using the websites directions it looks like I can 270 to 23 to Rowe Rd and that puts me on the west side of the airport?
Jump to posthey guys I live in Dayton and plan on going, anyone familiar with and have tips for getting in and out? The Dayton airshow is usually a total mess with its traffic and I'm trying to avoid that kind of thing. Anyone know if the directions on the website for coming from the west also take you to the w...
Jump to postI'll be interested to see if any mention of fire response is mentioned when they sort this out. I was at the show and witnessed it today. The plane did not burst into flames, I realize your perception of time can be altered when witnessing a traumatic event but it looked like it hit, sat there. Star...
Jump to postjust taking wild guesses but if I had to fly a C-17 that way I wouldnt go through Lajes, it would be more like the Ramstein, Shannon, Bangor route.

Jump to postUSAF ATC now allows one of the laser surgerys, only one of them and not sure which one. For some reason I think flying was allowing the same one.

Jump to postI lived in Boise once, looking at a map and guessing, 4 miles northeast of the runways and not under the departure corridor and you could hear the B-1's departing from across town. Jump to postin the AF we generally dont ship as units, its a couple guys here, couple guys there. Jump to postI feel for you, I'm a USAF tower controller who will spit out a slew of instructions to pilots and get irritated sometimes when they dont remember it all. Jump to postthe military cant fit its crap into a 747, theres no holes big enough, for example the flipping nose or rear end that splits open so you can drive vehicles into it.
Jump to postif you only had 2 engines would you want less flaps for less drag?
Jump to posthe certainly did this on purpose, the C-141's at wright-patt are making a pass over the west ramp doing this before heading to Davis Monthan

[Edited 2005-04-16 04:03:12]
ya the published airspeed of the 141 is .74, in the manuals I think it lists .767 as the norm, and a vietnam era C141A pilot I talked to said they would let it get up to .82 as the fuel burned off
Jump to postspeed in what? loading/unloading? they are both a .74-.78 cruiser, C-141 could cruise up to .825 how much faster could a C-17 be going?
Jump to postat all the stateside shows I've been to they let you crawl all over a lot of planes, C-17, 141, 5, 135, 10, whatever
Jump to postC-17 vs. C-5? arent they 2 totally different missions?, wouldnt a 747 replace a C-5 before it replaced the -17, C-5= carry a whole lot of stuff somewhere, C-17= carry not as much but do into crappy little strips in a war time environment? I suppose you could just have the C-5 bring its tons of stuff...
