UA service to MMH for this winter's ski season never started because of COVID. By next year, UA should be moving Mammoth Mountain flights from MMH down to BIH.
Jump to postThis actually isn't the first time United has operated this route. Looking at their October 1991 flight schedules, flight UA 333 operated Chicago-Seattle/Tacoma-Anchorage-Fairbanks with a 727-200. ORD-SEA 4:37pm-6:49pm SEA-ANC 7:35pm-9:54pm ANC-FAI 10:25pm-11:17pm I'm not sure how long that lasted....
Jump to postLast week Mammoth Lakes Tourism decided to not renew capacity subsidies for JSX service between BUR and MMH. They voted for a new agreement with Advanced Air out of Hawthorne, CA. Looking at Wikipedia, Advanced Air has an agreement with Surf Air so I wonder of MMH will be added to Surf Air's new bus...
Jump to postI wonder if Baltia Air Lines/USA Global Airways might want to step in?
Jump to postThe president just agreed to end the shutdown for 3 weeks. I wonder if these ground stops had any influence on his decision.
Jump to postI’m just old enough to remember when all the airlines serving EWR operated out of the North Terminal. There were a mix of props and jets back then. You walked in the entrance from the drop off zone and the check in counters were in the back with the two concourses off to the sides. I recall the inte...
Jump to postCHA-HHH? Most flights went to PIT and PHL, but they have also done mainline jets to ORD, YYZ, ELM, ITH, BGM, MDT, DTW, BFD. BUF as well. I have flown BUF-ERI on Mohawk and Allegheny on BAC 1-11’s, DC-9’s and Convair 580’s. I was really young but somehow I still remember the Convair’s. We used to fl...
Jump to postEarly this winter when AS pulls out of MMH, UA will start flying from MMH to LAX, SFO and DEN. The LAX flights will be your round. This is the second time AS has burned me not long after convincing me to get an AS credit card. They pulled out of ACV when I lived up there, and now MMH where I live no...
Jump to postI was hoping for a rebrand with less of a focus on red eye flights from the West Coast to JFK. I’ve never flown B6, would like to since they serve nearby RNO with a flight to JFK but red eyes to the East Coast don’t interest me. I’m worthless the entire next day. Can’t sleep on planes so I search fo...
Jump to postDropping a bunch of routes after a major expansion reminds me of MarkAir’s foray into the Outside (lower 48) market. They quickly ditched most service in their core service area, expanded into competitive markets down south then went belly up.
Jump to postInteresting UA is adding LAX-MMH to fill the void left by AS/QX. They have served it for a long time so I’d expect this to do well seasonally. Pretty sure the route is subsidized by the town/resort. Yes, the town and the ski area subsidize the route with a tourist tax referred to as the TBID. On fl...
Jump to postConsidering US based carriers are more concerned about shareholders than customer service, I prefer to pay a little extra and sometimes less to fly on foreign carriers. Jump to postUnfortunately, I have no interest flying a US carrier on an ultra long haul route. The passenger experience and comfort is sacrificed to ensure that shareholders are happy with their investment. I’ll spend extra for a foreign carrier that is focused on their customers. Jump to postI just returned from a trip to and around Asia. Flew on both Japan Airlines and Garuda Indonesia. The bathrooms were spotless throughout the whole trip on all my flights. Unfortunately I have a low expectation level when flying on US based carriers. The phrase “that’s not my department” or “it’s not...
Jump to postAs for trains, the Keisei Skyliner is great if you're in a hurry. NRT-Ueno in 41 minutes and Tokyo in 55 minutes with transfer to the Yamanote Line. I just returned from Tokyo yesterday. I wonder how many a.netters subscribe to a daily newspaper or pay anything for current news reporting. Aggregated news sources don't count as journalism. Jump to postMy most unique multi-stop flight was in May 1989. It was on a UA 727-100. FAI-ANC-SEA-GEG-SFO-MRY. Left FAI around 10:30pm and arrived in MRY around noon the following day.

When moving to a new country, it is best to assimilate to the local culture and express respect towards your new community. What type of carpet are they going to use? Something like shag or loop pile? Sorry for my humor. Recarpeting = repaving? English vocabulary often has different definitions throughout the English speaking world. In the US, 'carpeting' is a soft fiber floor covering used in all types of buildings.
