There is also the added complication of Germany requiring some Indian passport holders to have a transit visa enroute to India. I don't know why they reinstated that silly rule. I am pretty sure they are losing a decent amount of traffic to that, particularly in the post Covid immigration scenario....

SNA in not in Los Angeles, heck it is not even in Los Angeles county. SNA serves the larger LA metropolitan area but is it really a LA airport?
Plus SNA is dominated by WN. It does have a AA lounge and decent service by other carriers as well.

Yes AI benefits, but I feel UA pulled the plug too soon. UA pulls out even if there is a slightest dip in the revenues or other issues. They were flying ORD-DEL (non stop both directions) until last month, so the Russian air space restriction did not affect this flight as all other sectors required...
