Re: American Airlines Network Thread - 2021

If there is a nonstop option available, I think any corporate customer would take that over a connection, even if it's just a 45 minute hop to Seattle. If that weren't the case, then there would be no PDX-TYO flight at all. AA announced plans to build up a SEA TPAC gateway before COVID hit (Februar...

Re: American Airlines Network Thread - 2021

If cute how you list all those problems for Delta but act like American doesn't have the same issue. AA/BA aren't tossing a ton of money losing capacity on SEA-LHR, just like DL/VS AA is going to have the same exact limits to China that Delta/United will. Its highly unlikely anyone is flying going ...

Re: Alaska Airlines orders more Boeing MAX 9

I 100% agree with the 37’s from a passenger point of view as being played. I’m retired now and fly a lot on AA supporting my business. I’m a huge fan of their NEO’s. Wish AS liked then as much as I do. But I spent a ton of years at AS and they’ve never made a secret about how much they value the Bo...

I think it'll be hard for them to chop too hard at both LAX and PHX. That really leaves them with little west coast of their own. Chopping at LAX has already started and makes a little more sense due to the new partnership with AS, who is not weak at LAX. However, AS is still pretty weak at PHX, so...

Re: American adds more Asia to SEA, and other long-haul changes

American couldn't make ORD work to Asia. I would have to bet that they have much more connecting passenger traffic there compared to Alaska in Seattle. The big difference is that no one in the Pacific Northwest will want to connect backwards to ORD or DFW. Is Seattle that large with local demand an...

I think anything parked at ROW has a pretty low chance of returning. Maybe not zero, but low. We KNOW the old 737s, 767s, 333s, and 190s are being retired and they are there. The fact that the 332 is being sent there means that AA is at least contemplating not bringing them back. They could, and may...

Seems like the title of this thread needs to be changed since the topic is now much more about LAX being in jeopardy. Why do people want this to happen so badly? If they were going to de-hub PHX after the merger, they certainly would have at least started by now. PHX is a great airport. Who in their right mind would rather connect through LAX instead of PHX? Nobody, that's who. LAX plays an obvious role, but it can...
