N416AN is just about to depart HNL for PHX as AA9789. FR24 shows it as returning to service tomorrow, so I assume the hard landing didn’t damage the aircraft as much as first thought.

I don't see BA ordering the 359 unless Boeing suffers another round of quality/production issues with the 787 (perhaps triggered by an FAA audit). No way do they deliver their target of 70-80 aircraft this year. It's mid March and they've delivered 4. My guess is 30 aircraft by year's end. 40 at the absolute most. Why hate them? They are typically the cheapest, they fly on time, are very well-organized and have a young fleet. That’s quite a sobering thought. Imagine another airline having 29 A380’s hanging around doing nothing for so long. Are they the oldest aircraft, whereby some might not make it back into service?

When I was going through OSL the other week I did note the mass of Norse (and Flyr) aircraft sat in storage. It’s not just a question of where they fly, but also the rate of expansion. Even if choosing major US destinations, it’s still a lot of work and risk to start up new routes in quick succession. I guess we won’t know if it works out for them until after they’ve flown the routes for a while.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Norse are making the same mistakes that Norwegian Long-haul did. Over expansion and a “let’s fly anywhere” philosophy.
