From what I read its affects 320s with Winglets and sounds a lot like the same DVI ( Edit Not Eddy Current just a DVI ) inspections done on the 767s with Winglets. Not a big scary deal just preventive MTC.

When I was working in HNL back in the late 80s early 90s i saw that Air America L-1011 taxi in and had to take a double look. Only saw it painted in PAA stripes and Blue meatball twice. Was cool. My camera was in the shop and wished I had it to take a pic.

For me the L-1011 flap system was good. Would get some Hyd switch can issues, but out on the wing was good.

I have never worked on anything smaller then a 737-200/DC-9. But in My Humble Opinion the MD-90 was the worst!! From Tire changes to Eng Changes it was just a hassle. Only airplane i had to get down to my undershirt to change a cockpit window controller, and a valve behind the P-Dome. Its a toss up ...

Check out B-17E 41-2596 Desert Rat being restored. It was converted to a XC-108 during WWII and now being restored back to a B-17E. They talk about some of the mods from a bomber to a Freighter.

From what i understood, When United new HGR is done, AA new HGR is going to be built where the ExCAL/UA HGR is sitting. I believe the Remote gates are staying.

The Eng uses Bleed Air to turn the starter. If you run the packs ( They run on Bleed Air too) You don't have enough air pressure to get the starter to turn fast enough to get the eng turning fast enough to add fuel to the engine, so it can start. We also change engines for life limited parts. As engs get better and stay on wing longer some parts in the engine are Life limited. I am changing a Pratt 4000 for life limited parts in a few days. It will go back to the shop, and will replace anything on watch or show any issues and replace the LLP...

Very Cool. The Drawings are very nice, and now see why we had to move from the Western Area.
