One word.... B U M M E R. That is totally sucky. Did they determine the cause of the fire. I am guessing the motor on the walkway had some kind of electrical flaw, or overheated and ignited something which in turn caused a fire.  Sad

How many times do I have to say this.... AIR FORCE ONE HAS STANDARD 747-200 FLIGHT DECKS. THEY DO NOT HAVE GLASS COCKPITS. THEY DO NOT. I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN THEM MYSELF AND I KNOW THEY DO NOT HAVE GLASS COCKPITS. THE E4Bs ARE THE SAME. STANDARD FLIGHT DECKS.

Approximately 36.478% realize it. The other 63.522% Just board the plane thinking it is an airline taking them somewhere, and believe that the only number on their flight is the flight number.

These Statistics come from the FAA. (1997)

I believe NW will go for the 717. It is the Aircraft that can withstand 12 or 13 50 minute flights a day, while the A318, and 737 ared designed and outfitted for routes 2.5 hours or more. Why are earlier High-Bypass Jet Engines so loud? The JT9D is so loud, but the BR715 is so quiet. What makes a Jet Engine so quiet/loud. Look at the JT8D-9, and the JT8D-209, The -209 is much quieter than the basic JT8D... Why?
