The crew will file their ASAP report and they'll probably never hear about it again. If there was a mechanical problem, the airplane would have been written up and the maintenance item would be cleared prior to the next flight. Non-event really.

Always have paper towels up there. Bottled water should have a cap. Drinks should have lids. Keep stuff away from the center pedestal. Pass drinks from behind and to the side. If it gets really bad, put your tray on the floor behind your seat.

Cruise flight can be the most interesting or the most boring part of the flight. It depends on the rest of the crew. Some people are just harder to talk to than others and that makes even the shortest flight long.

It also allows for fatigue mitigation. International crews travel through several time zones and are expected to stay fresh and alert for the entire time. Having an additional crew member allows for rest which greatly improves safety (and is required by the FAA).

Personally I think it would add to the number of pilot jobs since more would be required. You'd basically need two crews at each outstation vs. one crew per night.
