Here’s an article with a pic. Very nice.
Good Day everyone, I searched but found nothing... Looking for some insight and best practices for traveling to Hawaii in July. We are flying to Hawaii on UA (TPA-SFO-OGG) in mid July. I understand a Covid test/result is needed prior to departure from SFO. I believe another Covid test/result is need...Jump to post
It’s a 20-minute walk, one mile thru Bryant Park to GCT in summer! The girl watching, dinner at the Oyster Bar and taking in Grand Central is worth it. Not to mention, the shopping, the Empire State Building. Don’t miss B&H, if you like photo or electronics. The Oyster Bar is closed now. Too ba...Jump to post
Heard on local news yesterday here in Tampa that flights to LGW are scheduled to resume on June 14, Zurich in late July and Frankfurt in September. Would be great if this came to fruition, but only time will tell. On anther note, did anyone catch the Atlas 744 and the Omni 772 that were here on Frid...Jump to post
A lot of memories at TPA. I remember back to about 1978. Parents used to take me to what was Airside B at the time to eat a hot dog and watch take offs and landings. The pelicans (I think) that used to hang 'inflight' above the escalators to baggage claim, the funky chairs with coin operated TV's we...Jump to post

Maybe others at same airshow, it was many years ago
F-14 (Miramar 1994) Does 'leaned into the cockpit" count?
Everything allowed into at the museum in Dayton, Ohio. Highly recommend it, place is awesome.

In the rare situations with nose gear problems such as the Trump shuttle 727 in BOS in the 80's and the JetBlue flight that landed at LAX with the wheel at 90 degrees, is the pilot actually holding the nose up to decrease as much speed as possible or is that incorrect info from the media? Kind of li...Jump to post
On the L-1011, I seem to remember the door sliding vertical, up into the ceiling. Am I way off base here or was that the case? Last flight on one was ~1995, DL, LAX-SAN.Jump to post
Easy to plan that mission on any of them without an AAR, but likely one planned to fill a training square. Military planes done fly much without a training aspect in the plan. Galaxy- That is exactly what the Air Force representaive said in the interview I just watched (local TV in TPA). He went on...Jump to post
Super Bowl LV (55) will have a B1, B2 and B52 (1 + 2 + 52 = 55) for the flyover. Linked article says each aircraft will fly from their home bases, Ellsworth, Whitman and Minot, perform the flyover during the national anthem and then return to base. Anyone have a guess on how many aerial refuelings e...Jump to post
I think every airline in the US already requires mask to be worn while on board, people are getting removed from the aircraft and/or added to the no-fly list for not complying. Masks are already required in almost every building I have been in over the past 9 months. So not sure what else will be th...Jump to post
Just a guess here but the OP may be watching the aircraft (either in person or on FR24) while listening to ATC via Live ATC or other. If so, there is often a slight delay in the audio which can give the impression the aircraft is moving before clearance/instruction is given.Jump to post
It is quite interesting and not just due to Covid or current times. Thinking back appx 20 years ago, DL flew many different types between ATL and TPA daily, including L-1011 and 772 (the good ole' days). Fast forward to current times and DL continues to fly many different types on that same route. 7...Jump to post
A couple things- First, really enjoying this thread. By far the best on the site in a long time. Great insight all around. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Second, just to add my own anecdotal info, I'm receiving Amazon packages via UPS, USPS, FedEx and the gray Amazon vans (I'm in the Tam...Jump to post
Any idea what it brought in or what it is picking up?Jump to post
Bucs aircraft (A330) was on maintenance in TPA today. They took a 757 to CLT instead. DAL8869. This is the second long delay and aircraft swap for DL and Tampa Bay sports teams this year with DL, the Rays were delayed several hours and ultimately had to swap aircraft last month flying back from Dal...Jump to post
This may be a 'Captain Obvious' question, but do the flight crew members simply get a ride to the nearest airport that has commercial service and just hitch a ride to their base or whatever hub/focus city, etc were they can get back on a normal flight schedule?Jump to post
Not related to an airport shutting down but related to VIP movement... Last week when POTUS went to Iowa, the other 747 (28000) went to Iowa as well, about 30 minutes ahead and appears to have landed at a different airport, it also flew a much different route from DC to Iowa. Then on Friday when POT...Jump to post
Very well handled by that captain, but clearly, this woman was trying to get attention and used the opportunity to post to social media in an attempt to gain media attention. Southwest was right in initially denying her boarding. It is unfortunate that they ended up apologizing and refunding her ti...Jump to post
I'm not getting into the mask debate I'm about common sense and whatever works for you and personally I like the social distancing thing for about 99% of the people in public (always have had my own version of this), I like my personal space. That being said, I flew last weekend on WN. Aircraft were...Jump to post
One can see DL 772's at TPA as the Bucs are using them for their charters. Two weeks ago one just sat parked at the gate for two weeks. The LA Chargers will be flying in later tonight on one and most likely it will stay parked at the gate until after the game on Sunday.Jump to post
Ah, but what some people say they would do in any type of emergency, and what they actually do, are two very different things entirely. All very well for a person to act the 'big man' and be full of bravado thinking one is John Wayne in the audience of family and friends.....very different scenario...Jump to post
Looks like Delta is leaving N866DA (B772) at TPA after returning from MSY on Sunday night. I suppose that makes sense as the Bucs play in CLT this weekend...no need to fly it back to ATL for no reason only have to fly back to TPA on Saturday. I would have never thought a major carrier could just lea...Jump to post
What do people do with this information, anyways?
No spreadsheet, no willing to kids, just useless information that I like to hoard and to be honest it is interesting to have been a passenger on an aircraft that later in time may have been involved in a newsworthy event or had an i...Jump to post
Don't know about manifests, but the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics maintains data going back quite a few years. To find the tail number of a past flight, follow this link: https://www.transtats.bts.gov/ONTIME/Departures.aspx Interesting, does anyone know of a source similar to the one abo...Jump to post
Perhaps a stupid question, but would someone please explain exactly what these crew bases consist of? Is it a block of rooms at a hotel and an office somewhere? I'm thinking the base means that FA's can actually live in HKG (and other cities) and they work flights primarily with others who live in t...Jump to post
They shipped the item on May 7th via FedEx Ground. Per the return address it came out of 4801 Ulmerton Rd in Clearwater, FL. This location is clearly a fulfillment center and not a retail store. . That is the old Eva-Tone building. For years they "printed" CD's. If memory serves, there wa...Jump to post
Came over my house as I’m about 14 miles north of TPA. At first I thought it was BA 2167, but I knew better...and it wasn’t a 772. Had to come in and check FR24. Those people must be tired at this point. Doesn’t look like scheduled to depart TPA yet either. Hopefully sooner than later we will have B...Jump to post

I'm sure the prisoners on board didn't notice, either.
With the $51 mentioned a few times I wonder about the margins. I completely understand that small things multiply into big results. Removing the magazines, pillows, less catering all saves weight which equals dollars. No problem. I wonder though, how much more does it cost to take off ‘in the wrong ...Jump to post
If memory serves, arriving into HKG one is directed to a lower level at the gate, then down a corridor with washrooms available then you have to go up a level or two to get to the tram/people mover which takes you to the processing area (Arrivals Hall A or B). I *think* the same people mover/tram is...Jump to post
I read or saw that TPA's pax count is down 97%. Wow. I live about 15 miles due north of TPA, looking forward to seeing some traffic in the skies again hopefully sooner than later, sure is quiet these days. Almost seems like UPS, FedEx and Amazon flights count for as much as pax fllghts.Jump to post
The Patriots are an American football team, who play in Boston, Massachusetts.... Apparently, the stop at ILN was so AMES could upgrade its avionics to support the flight to China. The airplane is being refueled at Travis. It will then fly to Miramar.

From calcs. for a B777 200 with 181 passengers and negligible cargo, and block fuel for the KLAX to ZSPD dispatch route (with winds aloft), with normal contingency, reserves, and alternate fuel, and based on the estimated fuel burn from the engine issue diversion point back to KLAX for landing...it...Jump to post
Would Kansas City make it ok? C'mon people, let's be rational. Pretty sure the pilots did not think "cool, let's dump fuel when we don't need to and let's aim for a school". Some of you are such sensational alarmists, similar to the media these days. The other day I spilled fuel on my hand...Jump to post
I wondered the same thing. The global super tanker 744 is at Pinal, I assume for maintenance.

What exactly is "taking control" as in what do they actually do to the aircraft? I say this as they can't really put a padlock on the door (s). I assume batteries and some other vital equipment is removed?Jump to post
Not a “carrier landing loop”; an overhead pattern or colloquially, “the break”. Sorry about that, I was unsure what it was called. I lived in San Diego in the mid 90's and worked near Miramar. Saw the good ole Tomcats do them every day and never knew the actual term. Again going off-topic, coolest ...Jump to post
