National with its Sun King tail and Eastern. Growing up in Florida and the East Coast, Eastern was just part of the fabric...they were usually the first airline you called. National had wanted to merge with Northwest for years and we knew it was going to disappear eventually but it was always around.

This route is served by Lufthansa's Cityline, not Lufthansa per se. It's not quite like a charter but closer to a low cost carrier as I understand it. Relatives flew it last May (TPA-FRA) and enjoyed it.

Many FAs have to work past retirement because their retirement plan was ruined by their company

On the other hand, retirement allows for the younger people to enter thr workforce. They bring a new vitality and sense of rebirth that are missing with an older workforce.

Presumably the F/As were out of their seats so was this really an issue of clear air turbulence? I can't imagine wake turbulence at the time the F/As would be allowed to get up and start their duties.

I have found Lufthansa, SWISS and Delta the most consistent with their good international inflight service. There a number of airlines out there that are totally consistent with their unpredictable level of service, wildly going from very good to poor with bad inflight service and dirty lavatories.

Do the UA international flight attendants wear gloves when collecting the meal trays? I believe they usually do on domestic flights in economy when collecting trash. I have never seen them wearing protective gloves in business.

Presumably a young man with a prosthetic leg would lead you to think disabled vet. The F/A's didn't have too much time to think this out, but if some how they asked if he's retired military, they could have done an instant upgrade and not embarrass the passenger in this particular situation.
