Well, it is Day of the Dead after all. Let's see if some miracle occurs tomorrow, which is All Saints Day after all.
Looks like the aircraft is carrying the name "Boomerang'. Perhaps it's just a special scheme?

I am pretty confident the thinking with most of these new tag-on flights is to put two loads of passengers (those flying SEA-ICT and SEA-OKC) onto one aircraft instead of two, not to really sell any tickets between ICT and OKC. '902 Exactly. The tag ons allow AS to continue serve all cities in thei...
Jump to postNo airlines aren't requiring paxs to wear masks. Neither are airports. Flights are getting packed again as airlines slash capacity. Jump to postI know that the Flight Attendants on the South American flights were all based down there. I know there were bases in LIM and SCL. Nothing like non reving on the quick SFO-LAX portion of the South American runs and being treated so nicely by the Latin crews!
Jump to postI think the DC-8-62 had the 707-327 beat range wise too. The recall that the BN DC-8-62s were upgraded to a wide cabin look by time that the Ultra Look came around. It was always cool to fly Braniff between SFO and LAX back in the early 80s. It was cheap and on a comfortable DC-8 with a South Americ...
Jump to postSan Luis Obispo (SBP) says they may see several new routes next year including SBP-PDX, SBP-SAN, along with SBP-DFW. The first two would likely be AS and the last one AA. http://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/article220311835.html Yes, SBP has really been pushing AS for a PDX flight. Hopefully it...
Jump to postUnfortunately not surprised about PDX-MEX. Someone recently posted that the load factors were poor. SJC-GDL was a bit over-saturated with three carriers on the route. Doesn't AM fly SJC-MEX also, or are they exiting SJC completely? AM SJC-MEX was seasonal. Operated just this past summer for a few m...

"Wouldn’t it be simpler to simply set up a hub at SJC instead of trying to go at it against everyone else in SFO?" There are simply not enough available gates at SJC for AS to go beyond their current schedule, even with operations spilt between terminals A and B. There are 10 to 12 tow mov...
Jump to postAs mentioned, Copa and Avianca pretty much have it covered through PTY and SAL. Lots of frequency and plenty of connection opportunities with both. With the exception of LAN's SFO-LIM, I can't think of any previous nonstop service between SFO and South America. Even long ago, Braniff and Pan Am took...

Excellent work by the flight crew in getting everyone off the aircraft quickly.
Jump to postI know SBA is wanting ORD and has been exploring possible Canadian service. They met with a lot of airlines at the Jump Start conference. Jump to postOr maybe move it to SJC? :D It would be nice to have a daytime flight on this route. Jump to postFor this SoCal kid, TI was sort of an exotic creature back at 1970's LAX. With their three big DC-9 non stops to Albuquerque that continued on to such locales as Roswell and Hot Springs. I flew on them just once DEN-SLC (with a full hot lunch) back in June 1975.

Except this goes into LAX from FAT. This might be trying to sell seats on a plane Skywest is moving out of maintenance each night to the line.
My guess is it's repositioning to TPA to bring the Winnipeg Jets home on Sunday. Don't know what it was doing here in SJC but it came in about 2pm today from LAX and FLL.

This picture from GUA was probably taken in the 70s. It's featuring the Pan Am 747 as well as multiple 707s. http://imageshack.com/a/img922/4610/T2DGn4.png Regards. No longer a link there...can you repost? I'm quite impressed with Pan Am's presence in Central America in the 70s. Thanks. Tom in SJC

Jump to postI believe that hanger was either incorporated into the United maintenance base, or torn down when the base was expanded in the 70s. Yes, a third re branding in a year doesn't make much sense. However beautiful the special livery is, I think it would be hard to maintain. Jump to postYes. Agreed. It would be fantastic if this was a new fleet-wide livery moving forward. AS is well into their rebranding. Changing it at this point doesn't make a lot of sense. In not such good news, it appears that Volaris is axing their SAN- MEX route sometime (exactly when?) and I’m not sure if they’ve already dropped GDL .
