Yep, I remember people having issues with both lenses toward the long end - and that's not to say the Sigma is exactly stellar, it has fringing, and vignetting on full-frame, but it is noticeably sharper at 300mm than the comparable EF lenses.

Ahh yes, the old EF 75-300 IS, the one even a cheap-o Sigma 70-300 DL can out-do at 300mm... (I have the Sigma, and it produces images sharper than that against the 300mm stop, provided the lighting is sufficient enough for a fast shutter speed...on the APS-C sensors it's comparable to 450mm on 35mm...

I go whatever I feel is comfortable. It's usually 10-20 over up here in New England. I've only had one ticket. Pay attention to your surroundings and drive ahead of yourself. I usually spot cops a half a mile off, and I can't tell you how many times that's saved my ass. Watch for lots of brakelights...

Mark, I'm willing to bet he was talking about detonation. What you were takling about sounds consistant with detonation.

Superfly, that's caused by too much NO2 and not enough fuel.
