Re: Australian Aviation Thread - January 2021

Rex has refreshed its uniforms prior to jet launch- https://www.instagram.com/p/CKXJfw2hQs4/?igshid=pc3cjjv5ty3j I think they need to work on their branding, it’s rather dull. I remember when their crew wore jeans and blundstones - at least that was different. They are just coming across as a littl...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - December 2020

Haven't QF been shunting freight around in otherwise sparsely filled 330s throughout much of the pandemic? Presumably they could increase A330 flying, particularly on transcon based on the demand that has led to such expensive fares all of a sudden. 787s perhaps kept just for repatriation charters u...

I noticed yesterday afternoon a CX 777parked on the closed runway in SYD and this morning it's joined by an A330. Are they storing these birds there for a while? QF is Going to operate 73H aircraft SYD - BNK. They will operate in conjunction with the current DH4. Commencement date seems to be from 09 November according to QF.com I'm on one of these next week. Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2020

I'd like to see the 717's on some SYD-CFS legs too. All Q400's normally. Tiger is no longer on the route and VA only 1 per day with the 737 ( when they start back up anyway) It might seem a long shot given BNK is a new route for QF, but I wouldn't be altogether surprised if we start to see some 717...

As a Northern NSW resident it's good to see a fairly rapid ramp up of flights in and out of BNK. JQ is up to 2 a day to SYD and one to MEL. Contrast to a complete JQ suspension around late March. Incidentally was on the last JQ SYD-BNK flight pre-temporary suspension. I was one of 18 pax that mornin...

Just a thought bubble, I wonder what the logistics would be like to redeploy grounded FAs to work the phones given how unable to cope VA and QF call centres are at present. A week of training? The bigger problem is probably the actual on-shore call centre infrastructure is virtually non-existent now.

Nice report. Good to see slightly better catering in CX J these days. It used to be pretty mediocre, especially compered to the very good hard product. One notable aspect of the seatbelt sign in Australia is that it generally applies to passengers and crew. If a Qantas captain turns it on mid-flight, it's usually accompanied by an instruction for crew to take their seats also. Service norms may be a factor too. A Qantas crew serves a full hot dinne...

RE: To The Other Side Of The World, Part 3:SYD-SIN-ZRH

All three of your reports of this trip have been a pleasure to read. It's so refreshing to see this part of the world - including my home town - from the eyes of someone so excited and enthralled by travel. Not to mention the obvious joy of the trip to get here on <acronym title="Singapore Airlines"...

RE: Part 9: Yeti Airlines “Everest Express” On The J41

Great report! I was in Nepal last year trekking to Everest base camp. The flights in and out of Lukla are among my most memorable ever! Your report brought back fond memories of a beautiful country. I hope to go there again soon!
