I got my old Nikon D200 still alive
Did not even look for the mirrorless system perhaps I am an old school guy.
What I know for sure that I better spend my money for travelling.
Dear fellow spotters and friends, A friend of mine sells his AF-S Nikon 80-400mm f4.5-5.6 G ED VR in almost new condition for $1000. There is no lens hood and bag. Just a lens with both caps. Location Almaty, Kazakhstan. Shipping to USA or EU cost approx $200. Please let me know if you interested by...

Jump to postHi, Original manufacture lens is always the best option and 70-200mm f2.8 is the sweetest lens however sometimes can be short. Can't say anything about Tamron but I had Sigma 150-600mm contemporary lens and it was sharp and I had no issues at all. You may ask for replacement and try another Tamron 1...
Jump to postHello, Usually you get vignetting - darkish corners on the images when using long zoom lens at their longest end, could be 300-400mm even at f8.(mostly with cheap lens) You may use "lens correction" option in the Lightroom or any other photo editing software during editing your image. (if ...
Jump to postHello,
Get an AF-P DX Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-6.3 VR (for cropped sensor) or AF-P FX Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 VR (for full frame).
Both are very sharp and has new generation focusing silent AF-P motor.
I had Nikon 24-120mm f4 in the past but I sold it and purchased 24-70mm f2.8 and never looked back.
Advantages: low light, better build, fast, professional quality glass.
Old but gold Nikon D700 shines with Nikon 24-70mm f2.8
Hi Dylan,
I had Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 both VR1 and VR2 in the past and they worth every penny.
It is a dream lens.
Canon 70-200mm f4 IS and non-IS versions are great in all aspects. Sharp, contrast, dream lens of many people.
My first L-class lens was a Canon 70-200mm f4 non IS on the crop sensor back in 2011.
I suggest you to try to get a Canon glass.
Rest in peace Ozell. You will be missed.

Hello! I would suggest the following: Nikon D3200 has 24megapixels and you need a good glass if you want to get the most from that sensor. Used Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR, first, second or third generation - all perfect lenses. New is expensive. Will be 105-300mm on your body. Top quality, low light sho...
Jump to postNikon 70-200 f2.8 lenses are professional grade lenses and have nothing to do with color output. The color of the image controlled by camera. Old sigma lenses tend to give some yellow cast but not nikon. Try to play with white balance on your camera and I suggest you to shoot in raw. Raw has more co...
Jump to postD750 is a great camera, I got one. You better buy it instead of D780 and save for good bright glass, f1.4-2.8
With D750 + a bright good quality glass you will be ready for even night shots.
Cameras come and go, good glass will stay.
Just my two cents.
Night shots require good focusing system which is better in D750 than in D610. Keep in mind that glass is also very important.
Jump to postPerhaps used Canon 5D Mark 2 or Mark 3 in good condition will be the best option if you want high ISO, better autofocusing and overall better performance.
If you do not need a full frame then you may choose any modern beginner Canon DSLR which will be better than 350D.
Good shots Saeed! Looks like a good lens which might be considered as an option.
Jump to postFor the Sigma with this kind of focal length you have to have a very fast shutter speed but polarizing filter cuts the light and shutter speed comes 1/300 - 1/500.
I personally do not use polarizing filters for aviation photography.
Enjoy your new 6D and bring some good photos to us! Congratulations on your purchase!
Jump to postHi Conor,
I guess all modern FF DSLR's good at low light and you better look for a bright glass.
Hi James, I am a Nikon user and can advise only on Nikon DSLR. As a starter mid-priced I would suggest you to get Nikon D3300 with 18-105mm lens for wide shots and Sigma 100-400mm Contemporary lens.[150-600mm on Nikon D3300] You do not need all that extra buttons for aviation photography. Basically ...

Jump to postNikon D3400 is small and got less buttons but got very smart processor and good sensor which is more important.
Lenswise I would suggest to try Sigma 100-400mm art, new lens from Sigma which is looks sharp and portable at the same time.
Airliners.net is 100% pure aviation while Facebook and other similar sites/platforms are the mix of information.
I echo Miguel and Kas opinion about quality. No one wants to spend some time for editing and make photo looks pleasant but everyone wants to be in TOP and do not want to wait.
Nice topic!
I have to try to go out and try some night shots.
Dear Mark,
Conratulations with 1K photo and thank you for sharing your photos with us.
I am sure you mother is very proud of you.
Now that Expo 2017 is over (Astana was the host) I have a feeling traffic dropped precipitously. I was there in July. It is interesting, but the fall in oil prices has really hurt the economy. There is also concern that when the President dies (he is in his 80s and has ruled since the end of the co...

Jump to postNikon D7200 got same Expeed 4 processor and same sensor just a little difference in software so basically gives same picture result therefore completely pointless to buy it.
I would go for new D610.
New Sigma Contemporary 100-400mm with more flexible focal range than Nikon 200-500mm can be a good option for cropped Nikon D3300 giving you that extra range you need for close-up shots, airshows, shots from the long distance with cool morning or evening air without heat haze. It is light, well buil...

Change lenses in non-windy place. This is the biggest problem of all DSLR cameras. Once it is open and you have wind, dust will be on sensor soon. And do not worry too much about few dust spots. They can be removed in post-processing. If you see many dust spots then it is time to think about cleanin...
Jump to postI would go for Nikon D800E with 500mm f/4
Jump to postHi Junjie Li,
There are many reviews on youtube showing how post process aviation photos in photoshop.
I would suggest to go for Nikon D750 mainly because of full frame sensor which gives you better clarity, better ISO, better DOF, better 3D dimension effect. Your photos will defenitely look better with a full frame camera.

Jump to postYour photo looks blurry and slightly high in frame to me.
You have to use fast shutter speed to prevent motion blur and get the original file sharp.
Additional sharpness can be applied in post processing in photoshop.
Dear ShokerSquad400, My advise. Camera: Both Nikon D5500 and D7100 great cameras but I would suggest to go for Nikon D7100. Better and faster focusing and bigger viewfinder of Nikon D7100 will help you track and frame airplane and whole scene better. Lens: I think <acronym title="Philipsburg / St. M...

Jump to postHello Daniel, Every single advise given above is very good but may I ask you a question? Do you really need to buy a new lens right now?
