As these types of announcements tend to get buried in larger threads, it's fine for this to have its own topic. This discussion is also ongoing in the Delta Network Thread as well for anyone interested.
It's time the site had elections for new moderators. None of this submit your application secret squirrel stuff. Most of the moderators have been here for a while now, you've had your turn "manning the wheel" It's time to turn things over, freshen up the place a bit and inject some new bl...Jump to post

Please keep posts on topic.
As is usual, everything turns into a political fight which leads to pointless personal attacks, and no one is bothering to discuss the topic. The thread is locked.
Please keep the thread on topic. The thread is about the 787 MTOW increase.
There was a discussion over on the DL Network thread a couple of days ago (on page 10, around posts 470-480s) about a rather nebulous rumor that AF was perhaps going to announce new service CDG-West Coast (or "Western U.S."), maybe as replacement for the discontinued MSP route. A few pote...Jump to post

Got an email this morning from MX announcing RIC-LAX starting May 18. Service is 3 times a week M,TH,SUN. Also added RIC-PVD, 3 times a week. Plane's rotation is: PVD-RIC-LAX-RIC-PVD. Surprised it took this long to start since it was mentioned before MX started flying as and example of what the air...Jump to post
In reference to the video that was posted: at the moment, the link will be permitted to remain posted, as it does contain a warning for viewer discretion. We aren't leaving it up with the purposes of being crude, but because it will no doubt become part of the investigation into what occurred. I jus...Jump to post
The thread title has been updated for clarity. There's no such thing as a "Near-Incursion", only an incursion, which is what happened here. A runway incursion happens whenever an aircraft, vehicle, etc. violates the protected area of the runway without clearance.

It's going to cost millions to get these aircraft back in service. They'll need to be in service for long enough to recoup the investment, or they wouldn't be doing it. I think the real question is whether they hang around for three or four years, or will they receive cabin investments and hang arou...Jump to post

it appears the airlines have another year to fix the affected altimeters. Politically motivated comments are not permitted. This is an aviation forum. If you can't respect that, then expect to be warned or banned. There are plenty of threads in Non Av for political bickering.
BOS is a very high-yielding, high traffic route- probably one of the most in the US after JFK for LH/Star. For 2020, LH had scheduled the A380 for BOS-MUC, and announced the launch of 6x weekly BOS-VIE on OS… obviously Covid upended that. In summer months BOS-FRA typically gets 2x daily 747, as wel...Jump to post

Thanks. Respectfully, that's very frustrating. I understand they are not new, but they are in my opinion and at least some others', a problem. That the trend is not new does not mean it cannot be addressed. But I understand the site's position. Given the high level of participation in these threads...Jump to post
So, long story short, the site is not going to change with respect to these omnibus threads that people are complaining about. Am I understanding correctly? Correct. We didn't create them, users did. We just maintain them. We're not going to change them, because that's not our job as moderators. Th...Jump to post
As the event occurred in 2016, but it seems the video has only just been released, I have kept the thread open with an amended title.

Looks like Air China will resume flights to IAD from PEK 3x weekly starting on March 2nd. https://www.flightglobal.com/networks/air-china-hainan-airlines-plan-to-expand-schedules-to-usa/151527.article Interesting, as I was somewhat expecting them to drop IAD completely. I have a different question related to this topic....why are there chronological restraints to threads at all? I get the idea of the mods starting up all the airline/location threads to help condense the conversations properly, but why do these threads need to be locked and re-done for the new year...Jump to post
Hey ATC, first, I want to make sure that it comes across clear that no one is placing blame at the feet of the moderators here. If there was one moderation mistake, it was automatically re-upping the general threads, because that is an endorsement. But no big deal there because as you note, these w...Jump to post

Prominent news always gets its own topic when someone starts it. I respectfully disagree. For instance, the largest domestic US carrier completely melted down last week and nearly caused a ripple through the remaining three, but no specific topic on this was ever created. As a result, you had to fi...Jump to post
I’m surprised so many people believe this aircraft could be discovered in basically one piece on the ocean floor like a shipwreck It’s highly likely it impacted the surface so hard it disintegrated into thousands of pieces that have been distributed by wind and ocean currents over a huge area befor...Jump to post
EWR is in a complete meltdown right now. The fire suppression lines in the tower broke on the 23rd floor, so the controllers had to move to their alternate site which is the United ramp tower. They dropped the arrival rate to 15 airplanes per hour. There are 126 flights currently waiting with EDCTs ...Jump to post
Happy to see that N14016 made it from CHS to IAD yesterday evening despite the storm. The weather in the mid Atlantic was absolutely fine yesterday, just cold. Any information on this unusual flight from SNN to CAI? It seems like a ferry flight due to its unusually low level. https://fr24.com/VPCEM/2e9ee0ae I wouldn't necessarily say it's a ferry flight. Flying at FL270 tells me that it might be non-RVSM. It could be that either the aircraft or the crew a...Jump to post
