I tried the new Clear for a while because as a customer of the old clear before they shut down I got one month of the new clear free. The old Clear existed before TSA pre-check so it always saved time. Now it seems to save time only if there is a very big line for pre-check. I have found the biomet...Jump to post

Depends on the time of year. A short connection in a snow-prone city might turn into a misconnect in December, but wouldn't be an issue in October. Good point... the trip is planned for the 2nd week of December and returning the first week of January. I think that leaves IAH as the least likely to ...Jump to post
The SECURITY at airports in Africa is questionable. Note that the EU3 and DL fly out of LOS for Europe & North America. Time for another security sweep for procedures!? Interesting Denver aviation fact: Southwest began service at Denver Stapleton in mid-1980s then withdrew (unsure how long Southwest stayed there) It wasn’t long. If I recall, for a long time, wasn’t that the only station Southwest had ever closed? (Long before they acquired AirTran and closed a bun...Jump to post
WN didn’t enter DIA until 2006 and only started growing significantly there within the last decade, but it is now on the verge of becoming their largest station, especially if they take all the new C gates. Conventional wisdom suggests a carrier won’t do as well when the carrier raids a rivals hub ...Jump to post
Live from BHM, we were all wrong. BHM introduced the CLEAR airport security lane today with a soft opening. A bigger PR push will be Thursday. I used it just now, worked great; just not the announcement we were hoping for on this site. Ha, earlier I was going to make a sarcastic comment saying that...Jump to post

In my opinion B6 seemed out of place at HOU. As for convenience despite being slightly closer to HOU in terms of distance IAH is usually quicker and easier for me to get to. The roads to HOU are generally terrible and always seem to be backed up even outside of rush hours.Jump to post
I did T5 > T3 back in May. That particular day it was cold and rainy and I started to get a chill while waiting in the pop up tent for the next bus to come along as I did not have a coat on. On the upside I had about 5 hours between flights so the traffic didn't bother me in that case but it would h...Jump to post

Because Norwegian taxes are so high on alcohol and cigarettes, the duty free stores do well. I heard that in the 80s Dan Air’s flights to Norway use to make more money on duty free sales than on the ticket sales. (Not sure if it’s true but any one who’s watched Norwegians in a duty free store will ...Jump to post
They sure did. I flew LBB-DAL-IAH round trip back in July of 2004. They had one gate in Terminal A. The only city served from IAH was DAL. If I'm not mistaken, WN used to serve IAH I flew WN a couple of times, IAH to DAL, a couple of times in 2003. I wonder if WN will ever come back to IAH with a s...Jump to post
Yes. Here's an article on it regarding diversions: https://www.dallasnews.com/business/air ... t-alliance
Similarly, WN occasionally shows up at IAH for diversions or charters.
This is Southwest's February 2001 route map. Would it be safe to say that the -200s flew through all of these cities at least once (with the exception of SNA) before they were recalled to the Texas Triangle? https://i.imgur.com/Y082KgM.jpg That route map had me thinking... What cities to WN service...Jump to post
“Voting should begin by the end of today.” Said United in a Twitter message after I asked them. As some of you said, seeing this will give us a better idea of the livery. They posted the samples on social media and the tails appear to have been intentionally left blank. https://hub.united.com/her-a...Jump to post

I flew on them two times and enjoyed my flights on them. Ironically I arrived into Dublin on what would turn out to be their final day of operation and the last flight from KEF flew right over my head just as I was getting into my hire car. Next morning I turned on the radio and heard them talking a...Jump to post
Total speculation on my part but yesterday one of the chemical plants in east Houston caught fire and there has been a massive cloud of thick black smoke over Houston ever since. I don't know if it's related but it's possible that they're using a different flow than they normally would to avoid the ...Jump to post
So, what do medium to large 738MAX operators do (Southwest, Air Canada, and American) to shore up capacity? Bring old 733s, MD80s and 757s out of storage? Southwest doesn't have any more 733's in storage to fly. They've all been moved and offspec. A grounding of 34 jets will be tough on the operati...Jump to post
Didn't WN try to build ISP into their New York gateway back in the late 90s/2000s? Even as a WN fan I could not justify flying them into ISP when there were cheap fares to EWR/LGA/JFK even back in those days.Jump to post
all 737MAX Aircraft should be grounded till the cause is determined ....jump the gun much? Tbh in this case knowing what we know about this incident right now I don’t think he is jumping the gun. Bout twice as far as Sully did. Idk the glide ratio on a 76 but it’s probably at least 8-1. That would be 9 miles of glide. (Statute miles, I know some of you will argue my math) Edit: Google says 12:1 per Gimli. So 13.6 miles of glide. May not get you to the airport but it’ll help find somewhere f...Jump to post
Probably stuck in the mud. If you're suggesting fuel starvation, running out of fuel does not cause airliners to drop out of the sky like a stone. Pilots are in fact trained on how to glide their aircraft, and every aircraft is designed to glide. The 767 has had fuel starvation incidents in the pas...Jump to post
Also, asking for Houstonians--are most loyal to United or Southwest? Houstonian here and my preference is WN, then everybody else, then UA. OGG is for sure, I’m not sure about the others.
When WN announced their intention to do inter island I took it as meaning triangle type routings and not necessarily them trying to match HA's hourly frequencies. I don't see how doing triangle flights between islands would be any worse than the short flights they already do (or have done in the pas...Jump to post
Does anybody know if they plan to fly ONT-HNL too? WN does fly to ONT. They fly HNL from OAK instead of SFO, why not ONT instead of LAX? OAK is their main station in the Bay Area even though they serve SFO/OAK/SJC. In LA area LAX is their biggest station so LAX makes more sense there. Also, regardi...Jump to post
Add me to the list of people that hate preclearance. Long, painfully slow moving lines and multiple security screenings. I don't see how people claim that it's convenient when you show up 3.5 hours before your flight and still have to rush onto the plane.Jump to post
Congrats to CRP for the add even if it’s minor.Jump to post
While I am mostly fine with airlines replacing PTV with PDE, it would be nice if UA at least had live streaming TV (and if it actually worked, unlike WN). There are dozens of movies and TV shows on UA’s PDE. I prefer it to the live tv on WN WN has free movies on their streaming entertainment in add...Jump to post

I seem to recall FL had some success in MEX, and WN couldn't keep it going. It's a shame. AirTran’s entry into MEX occurred after WN acquired them. It was WN’s route planning that decided that service, but FL metal was used due to WN not having international capabilities at the time. Hence why AirT...Jump to post

I always thought that USA3000 was such a cheesy and unoriginal name for an airline. Is that honestly the best name they could come up with? Don't forget the similarly named Canada 3000.
