Depends on the time of year. A short connection in a snow-prone city might turn into a misconnect in December, but wouldn't be an issue in October. In my opinion B6 seemed out of place at HOU. As for convenience despite being slightly closer to HOU in terms of distance IAH is usually quicker and easier for me to get to. The roads to HOU are generally terrible and always seem to be backed up even outside of rush hours.

If you plan on staying in Tokyo then go with a Suica card. Despite its high price the rail pass *is* worth it if you plan on doing Tokyo-Kyoto/Osaka round trip during your visit which is a common itinerary for people visiting Japan.

Add me to the list of people that hate preclearance. Long, painfully slow moving lines and multiple security screenings. I don't see how people claim that it's convenient when you show up 3.5 hours before your flight and still have to rush onto the plane.
