The growth plan for the next 5 years hasn't been made public yet, but once you see it, your jaw will drop.

I can confirm, my jaw did drop.

Indeed. Completely surprised.

Re: Alaska Airlines Network Thread 2020

Really? Not even one? Perhaps even one that, like AS, has a nasty DL problem on its hands? OK, let's say that B6 and AS tie the knot or at least get cozy. FLL works great for most of the Caribbean, but Central America is still a gap. B6's central america coverage is pretty good from JFK and likely ...

Re: Alaska Airlines Network Thread 2020

With the further and almost complete dismantling of the AS/AA partnership in 2020, there's a gaping hole in the AS & partner network with respect to the Caribbean and Central America. The partnership with LATAM, even if it continues, won't come close to addressing this. I'm curious to see what A...

This leaves a pretty sizable hole with respect to partner access to Latin America. If LATAM also goes away it will be much more pronounced.

Re: Updated: AS employee steals and crashes Q400 at SeaTac

If its even remotely possible to say something positive about this, I bet BBD is anxious to get their hands on the data recorders so they can see exactly how much force the plane can handle - he did a lot of maneuvers you don't put those planes in. I think some of the BBD test pilots have already d...

Per the AS blog this morning..."Domestic segments within international itineraries are not eligible for mileage accrual. In your example, SFO-ORD would not be eligible and ORD-LHR would be eligible."

Re: Changes to the AA/AS FF program to start January 1, 2018

If I'm understanding this correctly, you'll still earn AS miles for travel in AA internationally. Is that correct? What if a domestic segment is part of an international trip? Say you fly AA from SEA-DFW-EZE. Will you earn miles for the entire trip because you aren't flying SEA-DFW "domestical...

Re: Changes to the AA/AS FF program to start January 1, 2018

This is a big deal for those of us that rely on AA to get to Central America via DFW, e.g. American was the sole domestic partner I have used over the past 10 years and now I feel as if no viable domestic partnership exists for AS with these changes. No more EQMs/Mileage Accrual on almost all domest...

Re: Horizon Air pilots threaten to strike for higher pay

I find it interesting that 10 of the 12 segments I flew with QX in November and December were delayed by more than 1 hour or flat out canceled and were twice replaced by AS mainline. At the time, the delays/cancellations were mostly attributed to weather, typically SEA-PDX/PDX-SEA legs. I get that P...

Re: How a few inches turned into a foot of snow in Portland Oregon 01/11/2017 & it's effect on operations at PDX?

I have just awoken to what was forecast to be between 1-4 inches of snow, we've got 8 inches here in between the coast range & the West Hills & East County areas have up to a foot of snow. I've heard it's near to impossible to get to PDX & tons of flights have been cancelled already. Ho...

I don't know the entirety of it, but I did notice most of the SEA-PDX-SEA legs I have scheduled over the next 3 months have been changed to OO CRJ700 equipment. Interesting. What a/c were they originally? All Qs? I would still say it has something to do with accelerated network expansion and not en...

RE: Pasta Pester--AA FA Tells Pax In J To Shut Up

As Mcmax pointed out, <acronym title="American Airlines (USA)">AA</acronym> allows J passengers to choose their meal online prior to the flight. Not excusing the <acronym title="Safair (South Africa)">FA</acronym>'s choice of words, but if it was really that important wouldn't it be prudent to order...

Licensing the Virgin America name could be an interesting strategy should Alaska have future ambitions for flying larger metal across the ponds.
