CU-T1251 has not flown since January, does anybody have any updates on it? CU-T1251 still in service. CU-T1254 still waiting for maintenance?? Cubana has not flown any regularly scheduled international trips since March. One of the (if not the) last flights was a HAV-EZE-HAV rotation. CU-T1254 need...Jump to post

Maybe this is just another outlet to get a relatively well maintained 747 to Iran?
Like it was done before via Armenia where they put random destinations into the flight plan and suddenly had to divert to an Iranian city. 24 later the plane will be already repainted.
Interesting. Will it be a 5th freedom like their KWI-DOH flight? DMM will be just a tag on from BAH with no 5th freedom flights between BAH and DMM. This is just done to make the DMM bound travellers the immigration easier. The one at the bridge can be a pain But it will be fun to be on a 5 min 777...Jump to post
It’s harder and harder for the smaller traditional charter outlets as the big players, mostly EW, these days took over many routes which AB served for years. And EW can offer the tour operators a lot cheaper bulk fares than e.g. ST. I remember the days when there was the following line up at SCN on ...Jump to post
I was surprised Eurowings didn't jump into Berlin-SCN, but then I imagine the market is too small to sustain multiple daily flights. It is also interesting EW's relation with airports near the border. A few years ago I flew MST-SXF on Germanwings but now it is closed. EW also operated NRN-MUC for a...Jump to post
Actually to give some more insight: some years ago Luxair flew both LUX-SCN-HAM and LUX-SCN-TXL as a milk run with mostly Q400. They also had a E135/145 based in SCN for flights to MUC but when their ERJ fleet got phased out they stopped flying that route. There was also a through flight SCN-LUX-LCY...Jump to post
It will not end. SCN (my home airport) is just upgrading the runway and therefor the flight is direct for 4 weeks. Also the passenger share is around 50-50 for LUX and SCN. And it’s so comfy that it’s worth the premium. Especially for commuters with limited timeJump to post

i was reading that they are interested in Ejets ( dont know if current gen or E2s ) for their regional network growJump to post
Speculation, and invite corrections. The 380 is really big It likely takes the place of two smaller planes And it has to be in an international terminal for immigration and tariff reasons (big problem) A gate designed for the 380 needs to be used 6 (?) times a day to be profitable Every airport in ...Jump to post
Actually numbers in VKO mainly raised cause charter flights to AYT have resumed during last year. So they factor in the biggest increase. Also regional carrier RusLine switched Ops from DME to VKO in order to cooperate with UTair ( the two offer now many codeshares )Jump to post
There are other airlines with a single long haul plane, Air Greenland comes immediately to mind. They usually charter ACMI when their own bird is in the hangar. But for SomonAir, it could work actually if they get it for the right price, although i would think a used 77L would be the better plane. T...Jump to post
There is a simple solution, make the AB slots available to any interested airline. FR would be flying within 4 week and bring cheap tickets to the German market. Ryanair had the chance to fill these gaps, and the still have its but for many routes like the domestic shuttles they aren't interested. ...Jump to post
I could see 77W with low cost carriers but that is a lot of plane to fill. But these planes are good for charter operators as base costs are low and they don't need to fly them 20+ hours every day. For example Nordwind just recently took 2 77W from EVA and fly them for tour operators to the carribea...Jump to post
I am a bit surprised that LH takes over LGW. On which routes will they put the Bombardiers? I thought that LH was done with turboprops. Will they fly for Austrian or Brussels? My guess is that they will be put on german domestic flights, where EW or before 4U already used Cityline CRJs. those poten...Jump to post
I experienced in all Eastern European Countries, especially Russia, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia it is rather common to clap after a flight. People told me it is in order to thank the crew for a good flight. Well last week, after two missed approaches and diversion to HAJ, people also were relieved when...Jump to post
It seems to me that the whole EW longhaul becomes more and more like Edelweiss. Edelweiss also started only on leisure routes, but with the A340s now also more and more routes, especially to the US, which aren't only leisure-driven. They also have installed the current LX business class, just with m...Jump to post
Strange, why would BA replacement flights go to AGP when they already serve GIB? I suppose the pilots of the replacement aircraft (which I think actually Qatar Airways planes with Qatar Airways pilots) can't fly into Gibraltar as they would require special training, which I assume involves making t...Jump to post
10 757s? Depending on their condition some of them may attract interest from more volcanic climes...? Wish all affected employees well. One of the issues with these 757-200 is that they are on Russian registry. On the one hand, VIM did import them, paying all Russian duties and taxes, etc. -- i.e. ...Jump to post
Yesterday also the few flights that operated, operated with several hours delay out of VKO instead of DME, as they have a high amount of debts for fuel and airport charges in DME...unfortunately I think a few days and they will be gone. Maybe to anticipate the arrival of one LCC on this route ? probably not, as this route is mostly used by business travelers, which need the frequency of LH. LCCs would not implement a shuttle like schedule anyway. Also the DB is already very fast on this route and if you book early tickets within G...Jump to post

which routes are mostly if not completely kept alive, because a certain company books a set amount of seats on every flight?
For example I think LH's NKG (Nanjing) service is mostly driven by VW employees, as they have a big plant there.
I think EK will order a few of those 380 Plus for the times when they start to phase out their oldest ones.Jump to post
The money can last longer, since its summer and many planes are full. However you might be right, the cash is only released to Air Berlin for flown tickets. Other cash is held on an escrow account. So any loss will be eating straight into the 150m line which is not yet paid out, if to believe press...Jump to post

Its a tough market out of ATH.
The yields are not the highest as it is a lot of VFR traffic and it even to the East Coast a long flight.
A3 is happy enough to feed LH and other star alliance partners through central Europe. Especially the FRA flight has always a lot of US connections on it.

Great report! I really enjoyed it! Were you confronted at any time in Chinsau though or was it quite safe? Moldova has always interested me a bit. Exotic Air Moldova Well, this airline is now longer "exotic" - but there is a new gem in Moldova FLY ONE: https://flyone.md/en/ Offering cheap flights (as low as 100€ ow) from Western Europe to DME or VKO - that's an exotic airline (flights are o...Jump to post
