Re: What year did BA say goodbye to the B737 ?

They quietly went out of service with very little fanfare in 2015, the cynic in me suspects this might have been something to do with them ending their days at LGW.

Compare this to the fuss that was made over the 757 with special livery etc.

Re: Monarch starts 737 changeover

Out of interest, the order for now appears to just be the MAX8, but the MAX9 has been rumoured to come as well. How far can it fly from LGW at full payload? Runways in the UK aren't that long on the whole. Nor are they particularly short bar a few regional airports. The likes of LGW, MAN, STN, BHX ...

There are more airports in the UK that are more than capable of handing any Norwegian expansion should LGW become full, What is with people that instantly dismiss MAN with 25 million passengers, growing at the rate of around 10% per year. EDI and BHX are also experiencing spectacular growth. All 3 ...

None of the major European int'l airport have it in their official name: LHR, CDG, AMS, FRA, IST and many more. Nobody flying these airlines cares about the airport. People who want nice airports are those eligible to use lounge facilities and such like.

If you're flying Ryanair or Wizz, you're there for a means to an end, not an airport experience. That's how they get away with it.
