RE: Looking For A New Camera

I say go for a used/refurbished D90 or D7000 with the 70-300 Nikkor or Tamron for starters. IMO, avoid DX only lenses unless you can find them for cheap. I have one, a 35mm f1.8G, but all my other lenses are now FX capable as well. Between both bodies...

RE: Nikon 80-400 Or Sigma 150-500?

Either will be fine, although the 80-400 AF-S should be superior optically. If you check the database, you'll find great pics from both. Me, I've given up on zooms and have gone to primes for the image quality. I got spoiled the day I bought the 50mm. I just can...

RE: Nikon Pro-level Lens Dilemma

Personally, I'd save and go right for the 80-400 AF-S given the great performance, and overall reach when mated to a DX body. However, if you need a quicker lens for lower-light photography and fast action, the 70-200 f 2.8 will be the better choice. It's also a...

Sure, specs are not everything, but if I'm going to shell out for a body, I'm going to get the most for my money. Go with the D7100, it's a no-brainer. I own a D7000 and while it's a great body, if I had to shell out for a crop body today, it would be the D7100. There are quite a few threads here already outlining the differences.

I believe the D7100 paired with the new AF-S 80-400 would be a match made in heaven. RE: Camera For Planespotting - D600 Or D7100?

The D600 has slightly better high ISO noise performance and maybe dynamic range but I doubt you'd be able to tell with regards to the DR. The D7100 has more focusing points (51 vs 39), better depth of field, slightly faster (6fps vs 5.5fps) and more lens choices. It's also lighter and a lot cheaper....

AF uses runway 9 (27) the majority of the times I've seen them land. However they can also use 12 (30).
