Re: Chinese aviation market international capacity restriction

FYI Air Canada have been operating flights from Toronto to Shanghai daily on B777's cargo for quite some time. They perform Toronto to Tokyo leg, switch up the crew, then fly on to Shanghai return, switch crew in Tokyo again, and return to Toronto. No need for crews to be stuck in Shanghai. AC2283 a...

Re: PIA A320 (flight PK8303) crashes in Karachi

I often watch aircraft taxiing around and notice there is very little clearance between the bottom of the engine and the ground. In this accident, I relate back to the Air Canada DC-8 in Toronto July 05, 1970 when a disagreement between the Captain & First Officer resulted in the manual deployme...

Grew up in Pointe Claire, end of Runway 28 in the 1970's. 747-100's, VC-10's, the BAC-111's all used 28 from time to time and I loved it. The airport here in Ottawa does not have many gates to handle large international aircraft. At that time, Air Canada may have the swing gates 12 & 13 occupied with their two 767's to Frankfurt and London since both YUL and YYZ were both closed for a time.
