If they go Embraer/Boeing, they will need to give them a killer price, and some nice freebies included. My money is on the A200 Series.
OTOH they could buy some nicely used Russian Airplanes for a song
Has anyone seen the Al jazera report on Boeing and the 787. Granted it has a lot of exageration, but the hidden camera and the employees talking about QC is really frightening...
The wing is simply the biggest limitation for this airplane. When it was designed, the A320 weighed 155,000lbs. 58,000lbs less than the 213k of today. Correct, as I have read Airbus is trying to bring down empty weight , and simplifying the wing using variable angle flaps and multi position Slats.....Jump to post
I just want to stop seeing that the pilot could have done differently and saved the doomed flights. Please KNOW that the crews were not familiar and possibly not trained to handle a MCAS malfunction... and also in a dire situation, so please stop that and lets focus on the actual grounding of the MA...Jump to post
If I was in that plane Id love to get into the cockpit and use my training to startup the Apu the lights and beacons... problem solved.... probably go to jail...but heck sometimes you have to see the glass half full.
The meltdown people are having over this order has made decades being on this site as worth while. I am happy about Boeing getting this nice order, but they have 100 truckloads of maxes to deliver so its another glass of water in a very full bucket.... but lets consider: They really need to get the...Jump to post
The CDG-MEX Flight is always full... maybe the price is way too low, to make it a good business case.... Bummer I love the 380Jump to post
I flew on Jan 1 1994 and returned Jan15 1994 on MH on a Spanking new 747-400 they flew the MEX LAX segment from November 1993 to late 1995, and they took it because Mexicana Aeromexico and United torpedoed the 5 freedom rights..
I have refrained for posting on these MAX threads because quite frankly, lot of exaggeration and Ill comments. I really hope Boeing makes its homework because after the grounding is lifted ANY incident will be magnified ... I certainly hope they can get back on track, pay what is due and polishs aga...Jump to post
Love these never ending threads on the SA replacements of the future...since we have long made the 572 and the Mad dogs threads a thing of the past.. Boeing and Airbus will try to keep selling their current stuff as long as they can.... its like a Mexican standoff... The new Boeing will cost gazilli...Jump to post
I find it tiresome that its 2019 and the flame wars A and B are still going with the same tired old arguments. Delta is a very well run airline, and if they choose the A350 they must have seen it with a magnifying glass, so much that after that they have made comintments with other products from Air...Jump to post

On my flight MEX - NRT it was 15 hours of darkness, but the crew elected to dimm the windows all the way, so I could not see the stars or the aurora over Alaska... it was a moonless flight.... hate the windows on the 787.... and then on the descent they put them in normal, and the landing lights rea...Jump to post

I wish them luck, and a huge success its nice to see this kind of routes and the aircraft that can do it. Love to see photos of the interior.
As much as I loved the A310 (used to fly Pan Am MEX-JFK back in the 80´s) and Aerounion has 3 converted to freighters, there is no way to bringing it back in a economically viable way, hence Boeing has shelved the 797 and Airbus is making the A321 like tortillas. Airbus already has the A330-800 NEO ...Jump to post
If the Aircraft never went above 11 000 feet there is some missing information, either the PAX were not affected as much, or the cabin depressurized rater quickly giving the PAX a headache due low oxygen and ear and nose pain due to decompression. On the PAX that did not use the mask, that is simply...Jump to post
The firing of pilots and support crews is true has been announced and a friend of mine told me so a few hours ago. The rumor here is that they will downsize the fleet because there are simple too many grounded SSJ100 for MX problems. (engines). They told them that their are going to get rid of them ...Jump to post
Why would they focus on a new narrowbody when the 737 is sold out for 6+ years with around 5000MAX commitments/orders? Because it will take Boeing 5 to 7 years to put the new narrow body on market and in production....so they can begin replenishing the thousands of 737´s that will be retired.... he...Jump to post
I think that Boeing should focus on making a next generation single aisle aircraft in a modular fashion so it can use the 100 to 200 pax capacity and wings to accommodate such TOW and capacity. This middle of market won't happen because its a niche aircraft than even if they sell 2000 copies the inv...Jump to post
xwb777 wrote:If the Etihad A350 cancellation is true, would BA take the delivery slots?
They eventually order more A350K and a midsize order of A380, Iberia could use at least 6 to 8 of those and BA could use those to Latin America and the far east. Idon't think they will order 779´s and Airbus will eventually bend its back to accommodate a big order from the consortium. I´d love BA to...Jump to post
So It seems that training is failing in major airlines, specially if they allowed the cello on the previous flight, the article sadly does not specify what kind on aircraft was used. Maybe the Cello did not fit...but bad communication and attitude is so prevalent in this days. https://www.nbcchicago...Jump to post
I agree that this accident had a lot of luck, and a lot of things conspired to make it happen, and a lot also to allow everyone to survive. Ill wait for the report, because quite frankly a lot of the experts here on crash investigation and aircraft knowledge are gone, and the ones who post useful in...Jump to post
IB could have 8 A380 and fly them to LatinAmerica and have them filled.... To me IAG should have already bought or leased as much A380 as they can...but the logistics and fear of expenditures, have made them very cautious. Now we see Hifly get a very good deal and they will surely keep those frames ...Jump to post
MEX is at 2400 meter ASL and yesterday it was 30 celsius ....I used the calculator for altitude....3466 M ASL holy cow and me in a 21K race... When I see the MEX-CUN-MEX airways on Flight radar I want to puke, it looks like a highway, all flown with SA aircraft, and tons of cities in North America are the same for the sake of "frequency", why the government gives you incentives for using a darn electric car, but can't in the case...Jump to post
When AS used to fly to MEX, they used 738´s and the wingleted 739´s...you don't know how it feels to roll for AGES to take off at 2400 meters ASL with a full cabin, luckily the flights to LAX are 4 hour hops so I guess we were not close to MTOW, but I got used to it....rolll roll..and then up like a...Jump to post
We are in the midst of the start of a trade war, problematic relations with Russia (remember those overflight rights) and a lot of things can be unforeseen like a huge epidemic, large catastrophe and such... The westbound leg of this "imaginary" direct flight is on the limit of a 788 can do I bet any kind of headwind would make it divert. Divert= Money pit
Nice codeshare if it happens, direct with AM metal, I don't think so.

If I PAY to fly in First or Business class, I expect better treatment than Y, after all its my money and I can feel entitled (by my money) to ask for better services, specially if those are advertised and come in the menus... how much is Boeing selling its 787 now that production is in cruising speed ? It rumored that they can go lower than 100 million a copy and have still room for a decent profit. (decent as in less than 10 million), but all this is just approximations on economics of scale and the amazing cost cuttin...Jump to post
