RE: Delta's Lockheed L-1011 Tristar Still At VCV. Why?

I believe the RAF still have 9 L1011s still in service. IMO this probably has a great deal to do with why there are still so many sitting in bone yards. Their value as spares has far outweighed their value as scrap. As the RAF receives more A330 MRTT aircraft, I would venture to say that the Tristar...

RE: ORD's Fids List 'Quantas' Flights

Seems DLPMMM doesn't get it. QANTAS is not a word, it is as FlashFlyGuy quotes, an Acronym. The mispelling isn't a big deal but it is kind of humerous to see the amount of people who get upset about it. The only thing funnier is people getting upset about people getting upset about it. Get over it! ...

RE: C-17 At SYD. Anyone Know The Reason?

Just got a copy of Australian Aviation Express News Flash, here is the quote; "The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III has been selected by government to fulfil an urgent ADF requirement for a strategic heavylift airlifter, Defence Minister Dr Brendan Nelson announced at Richmond today. At least three and p...

RE: Jetstar Blocked Seat Rows, Why?

Thanks Industrybuff that's what I was looking for. "It is company policy" based on pax numbers alone. Simpilicity, I appreciate your input. The only reason I flew JQ is because my company paid the ticket, So other than not go, I had no choice. I do norm...

RE: Jetstar Blocked Seat Rows, Why?

Quoting Gemuser "But it wasnt spreadout thru the cabin, it was concentrated just forward of the [over wing] emergengy exits! That is the forward part of the wing or just in front of the forward CG limit. 24 pax in this location will have a sigifinate impact on CG." The opposite is true. The closer y...

RE: Jetstar Blocked Seat Rows, Why?

Thanks for the responses, I am aware of weight and balance considerations, but when an aircraft is already roughly 85% full it seems to me that the weight distribution of 24 pax more or less spread more evenly throughout the cabin would have little effect on CofG. I am quite aware of CGs affect on p...

Jetstar Blocked Seat Rows, Why?

I recently flew Jetstar from BNE to CNS, it was a pleasant enough flight but I noticed on boarding that 4 full rows of seats were blocked off...

RE: Discrepancy In Movie "Island In The Sky"?

Come on guys, surely you know by now that Hollywood is all about entertainment. They really don't care to let the facts get in the way of a good yarn. By the way, my wife HATES watching movies & shows with me that involve aviation. According to her, I pick them apart too much. She says just relax an...

I can remember a flight on a 707-338 of Air Nuigini from HNL to POM in 1981 where thundering down the Reef Runway I saw the 1000 foot remaining panel flash by the window and we still hadn't rotat...

RE: Zero Visibility...In The Cockpit!

This is quite a common phenomenon. It is not due as suggested by a dirty water separator. In fact a poorly functioning water separator will have a quite different effect. If the air conditioning is turned to its coolest setting, the air exiting ducts will be both cold and very dry. When this cold dr...

Hi all, This is only my second post so be gentle. I didn't read all the posts previous to this one, so if this has been covered then I'm just adding my opinion. What I don't understand is why it is bad for a nation to support its own industry. Here in Australia we have a Buy Australian made campaign...

RE: Concorde At Small Airports?

Saw a BA Concorde at St Johns, YYT in late May 1999 or 2000 (don't remember which year, I was there both years). I was told it was a charter for Iceberg watchers. YBCS
