Apparently, LATAM has not updated its flight availability for the LIM-LHR-LIM route after February 1.

LATAM is reintroducing the 787–9 on its new LIM-LHR-LIM route from October 1, 2024. The 789 will operate on 2 of 5 weekly flights, replacing the 787–8.

Another worth-mentioning fact is that LIM is the only destination in South America that supports up to two daily flights to/from LAX in peak season. LATAM serves the route with Boeing 767s and 787s.

Actually, the A321XLR is well capable of flying both LIM-IPC and SCL-IPC-PPT under ETOPS-180 rules. That would free up to two 787s (should they want to resume both LIM-IPC and IPC-PPT services). Fact is Argentina does NOT need Aerolíneas. Just look at Flybondi and JetSmart Argentina, they are actually thriving WITHOUT any state/government fund.

Low-cost carriers are there to stay.

Where is the 789 going to? Also hadn't LATAM retired its 767s? The 787-9 will be back on the LIM-MAD-LIM route from February 2024. The reason why the route will temporarily see the 767 back is because LATAM Perú needs to train more cabin crew AND pilots in order for them to operate more Dreamliners...

LATAM Perú's most senior pilots are already 787 rated, so that's the main reason why they went for the Dreamliner for this new route.

Most probably a 787. Currently, LATAM Perú deploys a 787-9 to Madrid and Santiago. Prior to the pandemic, there were plans to deploy 787-8s from LIM to LAX and MIA.
